4 Section D: Continuing Education Requirement You are not required to send any supporting documentation with this form if you renew by the license expiration date. The Office of Professional Regulation reserves the right to verify information submitted by applicants for renewal and conducts a random audit of CE for each profession. You must retain all documentation for seven years after completion of the program/course. Please complete the Continuing Education Record on the next page. If you are renewing more than 30 days late, you must submit all CE documents with your completed renewal form. Board of Dental Examiners Administrative Rule 6.16 Mandatory Continuing Education for Dental Hygienists Dental hygienists must satisfactorily complete 18 hours of continuing education, with no less than 15 of the 18 taken in clinical or didactic dental or dental hygiene subject areas. 6 Section E: Emergency Office Procedures Board of Dental Examiners Administrative Rule 4.16 Emergency Office Procedures Completion of a course in emergency office procedures as defined in Rule 2.1(m) is required for license renewal. 7 Section G: Local Anesthesia Board of Dental Examiners Administrative Rule 6.11 Maintaining Anesthesia Privileges A dental hygienist may maintain local anesthesia privileges by administering at least 50 local anesthetic injections during the previous five years. Otherwise, a dental hygienist must satisfy the Board of competence to administer local anesthesia by successfully completing a course of three or more eighthour days of instruction. The course must include didactic and clinical studies in the administration of block and infiltration anesthesia and must meet the curriculum requirements of Rule 6.9(a) above.
