This course is designed to introduce both the basic and advances concepts and principles related to dental and oral implantology. The course will cover several topics, including historical perspectives, implant biomaterials,
2 principles of placement, hard and soft tissue reconstructions, restorative principles, and maintenance. The information provided will be beneficial for those who seek professional structured training in implant dentistry. Taught by University of Kentucky College of Dentistry faculty who are experienced and renowned specialists, this course will give participants valuable skills and research-based knowledge to improve and expand their professional practice. Course Objectives The program is designed to offer the participants a systematic learning approach to implant dentistry. Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to: Select patient for implant surgery and restorations. Set treatment plans for implant cases and recognize possible local and systemic risk factors. Achieve a satisfactory degree of skills and confidence in standard implant placement. Choose the appropriate surgical and restorative approaches. Understand patient pre-and post-operative care. Implement dental implantology into their dental practices. Get practical tips on how to avoid common pitfalls and complications in oral implantology. FACULTY AHMAD KUTKUT, DDS, MS, Course Director, Fellow-ICOI, is an Assistant Professor at University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry, Department of Oral Health Practice, Division of Prosthodontics. In 2010, Dr. Kutkut completed a Masters degree and a Certificate of Prosthodontics at State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. In 2007, Dr. Kutkut completed a two year certificate program in Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. Presently Dr. Kutkut is a reviewer for several scientific journals. He lectures both nationally and internationally and has publicized numerous articles and abstracts. Dr. Kutkut is currently Director of Predoctoral Implant Program at UKCD and maintains a practice limited to dental implants, maxillofacial prosthetics, fixed and removable prosthodontics. DOLPHUS DAWSON, DMD, MS, MPH, is Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He received his dental degree and certificate of Advanced General Dentistry training from the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky. He received his periodontal certificate and MS in Oral Biology from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Dr. Dawson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and maintains a faculty practice within the Division of Periodontology at the UK College of Dentistry. PINAR EMECEN HUJA, DDS, PhD, is a full time faculty member at UK College of Dentistry in the Division of Periodontics. She received her dental degree from Hacettepe University, Turkey in She completed PhD training combined with specialty training in periodontology at Hacettepe University in Dr. Huja completed a Master s of Science and a Certificate in Periodontology from Ohio State University in CHERYL PEARSON, DMD, AAACD, FAAID received her dental degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1981 and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. She completed a Post Graduate Residency at Tufts University New England Medical Center, Boston, MA in In 1983, she established a private practice in Lexington, Kentucky and has enjoyed a successful career for 30 years in general, cosmetic, implant, and rehabilitative dentistry. She is an accredited member of the AACD and a fellow of the AAID, past president of the Southern District of the AAID and an examiner for associate fellowship and fellowship awards. At present, Dr. Pearson is honored to be a member of the Advanced Dental Implant Studies, a group of successful practicing implant dentists who share the collective goal of advancing dental implant skills and knowledge not only for their own benefit, but to dental practitioners throughout the world. Dr. Pearson is a clinical success coach for the Maximus Implant Course 2015 and lectures at national and international meetings on Implant Dentistry. Dr. Pearson now practices with Dr. Edward Mills and his incredible team at The Atlanta Center for Restorative Dentistry providing cosmetic and implant dental care.
3 STEVEN TUCKER, DMD, started his training at Murray State University in the pre-dental program and participated in a curriculum heavy with biology and chemistry. By the time he concluded his undergraduate studies, Dr. Tucker was awarded the Liza Spann Health Professions Scholarship and was early admitted into the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. After completing his dental degree from the University of Kentucky, Dr. Tucker continued his training and studies at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, and was awarded a specialty certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Since then, Dr. Tucker has continued his education and gained invaluable experience. Dr. Tucker is associated with the Kentucky Dental Association, as well as the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the American Dental Association.
