American Academy of Physical Education Physical fitness is the ability to carry out daily tasks with vigour and alertness, without undue fatigue and with ample energy to engage in leisure time pursuits and to meet the aboveaverage physical stresses encountered in emergency situations. Clarke, H.H. (1979). Academy approves physical fitness definition. Physical Fitness Newsletter, 25:1.

Physical fitness is "a set of attributes that people have or achieve that relates to the ability to perform physical activity." (Caspersen, C.J., Powell, K.E., & Christenson, G.M. (1985). Public Health Reports, 100(2), ) > physical fitness = kondicija, tjelesna kondicija, tjelesna pripremljenost, kondicijska pripremljenost

Pate, R.R. (1988). The evolving definition of physical fitness. Quest, 40, Physical fitness is a state characterized by (a) an ability to perform daily activities with vigor, and (b) demonstration of traits and capacities that are associated with low risk of premature development of the hypokinetic diseases (i.e, those associated with physical inactivity). (p. 177)

Physical fitness is the capability of our heart, lungs, muscles and blood vessels to function at optimal efficiency. (multiple authors)
