13 Jin Yin Hua Lonicera japonica flos Actions: Clear heat and relieve toxicity Dispels wind and discharge heat Clinical applications: Ulcers, abscess, furuncle, swelling External contraction of wind-heat, and early stage of warm disease Heat toxin and blood dysentery Shen Y 2015, JinYinHua Temperature: Cold Taste: Sweet Direction of Action: Lifting Site of Action: lung, heart and stomach meridians Dosage: 6-15gm Cooking time: Add flowers at end of cooking period, boil briefly and allow to steep for 3 minutes Pharmacology: invitro antibacterial action; used to manage pus accumulations, mastitis, erysipelas, chronic conjuctivitis, keratitis, corneal ulcerations. Toxicology: saponin content at overdose can lead to gastrointestinal tract irritation and also renal, urinary tract and bladder irritation.
