2 Club Activities September and early October have brought beauty to our area. They have also been a busy time for the Oscoda Lions. Lucky Ten Raffle The Lucky Ten Raffle was a huge success netting the club over $9,500 for our community projects. Many members sold tickets, bought tickets, manned the tables at Family Fare and Neiman s markets, the Canoe Marathon finish line and the Farmers Market. Thanks go to all who helped. A special thank you goes to Alex Clarke for picking out the winning tickets. Our ad in the Oscoda Press on September 26 th named all of the winners, thanked our business partners and thanked everyone who purchased a ticket in support of our organization s projects. River Road Trash Bash On September 20 th thirteen Lions combed River Road picking up litter for the final time this year. The Scenic is back in the By-Way once again. During the summer season we averaged twelve Lions per cleanup. Thanks to Lion Bud for organizing us this last time. Fall Festival Arts and Crafts The 12 th Annual Fall Festival Arts and Crafts Show was well attended event with over 900 shoppers attending. The commons area, hallway and gym of Oscoda high School were filled with vendors selling a wide variety of crafts and foods. Many non-profits groups participated also, so there were lots of opportunities for shopping and eating. $2100 was taken in from admissions, lunches, 50/50 and the Lions booth. A final reporting will be made at the meeting. To all of my fellow Lions who helped to make the 2012 Craft Show another success, THANK YOU! Me and my crazy ideas I know! You are all such an amazing group and I am so thankful to be a part of it. Thank you to each of you who helped measure booths, carry vendors things in and out, work the kitchen, cook, and clean, check vendors in, make things for our booth, and, of course, sell at our booth. But especially, let me say THANK YOU to my mom, Lion Jane, for helping to keep me sane during all of this she helped to keep me focused on the big picture the reason we do this, to serve others.
