2 ISCOMS 2019 From the 3 rd till the 7 th of June 2019 the International Student Congress Of (bio) Medical Sciences (ISCOMS) will be held in the University Medical Centre of Groningen (UMCG) for the 26 th time. ISCOMS is the leading (bio)medical student congress of the world. The congress features a broad range of scientific activities including masterclasses, workshops, scientific presentations of student research, such as poster, oral and plenary sessions. Each year keynote lectures are given by renowned speakers. Last year keynote lectures were given by prof. Ugur Sahin MD PhD, Clara van Karnebeek MD PhD and prof. Dick Swaab MD PhD. Ambitious students and recently graduated students In 2018, 959 students from 57 different countries participated in ISCOMS. 351 participants presented their research in plenary, oral or poster presentations. UMCG medical specialists and other employees They will be able to meet participants and companies in the central and public located area in the hospital called the Fountain Patio where all our breaks will be held. Scientists, professors and supervisors They attend the presentations, lectures and workshops given during ISCOMS. 3 The UMCG Location ISCOMS is held in the University Medical Center of Groningen (UMCG), which is one of the biggest hospitals in the Netherlands and the biggest employer of the Northern Netherlands. The Fountain Patio is a central location in the UMCG and of ISCOMS. Many students, patients, visitors, doctors and researchers are passing through this patio. As stated above, all breaks during the congress will be held at this location and in addition our registration desk will be located there. As such, the Fountain Patio in the UMCG will provide the perfect opportunity for a company to present itself to the audience of ISCOMS, for instance, by placing a stand. Focus on Healthy Ageing in a recognized region ISCOMS shares the focus on Healthy and Active Ageing with the UMCG. On the 13 th of July 2016 the European Commission awarded the Northern Netherlands and thus ISCOMS- a score of 4 stars.
