2 Summary Glenferrie Rotary from 2017 : 2020 Vision The Rotary Club of Glenferrie will be: Larger More Diverse Collaborative Engaging more effectively with the local community through providing: More networking opportunities More hands-on service projects, particularly in the local community More fundraising projects More effective communication, internally and externally. The Purpose of the Club To provide opportunities for: Fellowship Service projects Social, business and professional networking Leadership development Club Objectives - Three Year Strategic Plan Increase club membership and improve age, gender, cultural and vocational diversity. 2. Increase the number of quality service projects 3. Improve the communication within the club and with the local community to increase awareness of the purpose and value of Rotary. 4. Better develop leaders, in the club and beyond. 5 PRIORITY 1: MEMBERSHIP PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Membership Development Director Objective: Objective No.1. Increase club membership and improve age, gender, cultural and vocational diversity. SMART Goals Increase the number of Active Members Reduce the average age of Active Members Increase the percentage of members who are women Increase cultural diversity Increase the % age of Active members attending dinner meetings Increased overall member satisfaction rating Seek out and recruit new members from a diverse range of vocations, cultures, and gender and establish a formal orientation and engagement strategy for each new member. 1. Develop a strategic membership plan. 2. Raise the profile of the Club in business and community forums. 3. Review the costs of membership 4. Weekly dinner meetings to have educational and motivational themes 5. Widely promote a high visibility project 6. Define and implement a former member re-engagement strategy 7. 6 PRIORITY 2: SERVICE PROJECTS PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Club Avenue of Service Directors Objective: Objective No. 2: Increase the number of quality service projects. SMART Goals Initiate at least one new active local community service project annually Maintain/increase number of active International Service projects Increase the number of active Youth Services Projects annually Increased number of projects undertaken collaboratively Increased member satisfaction rating for projects Engage with membership to define and develop new community service projects that have primarily local impact, engaging and collaborating closely with other Rotary clubs, the Boroondara Council, local community groups and local businesses. 1. Define, maintain and expand hands on community service projects involving broad member engagement each year (e.g. DIK, Second Bite, Fare Share etc) 2. Utilise existing reserve funds on a high visibility local community project (eg adventure playground) in the Hawthorn/Kooyong/Glenferrie Road area. 3. Work with the local community to identify new community projects for support e.g. Boroondara Cares. 4. Expand engagement with and support for youth through CHANCES, MUNA, NYSF, Youth Exchange and Interact. 5. Maintain and expand support for and engagement with International Service Projects. 6. Form committee to investigate expansion of the club's fundraising activities e.g. Farmers' Market increase to more than once a month. 7. 7 PRIORITY 3: IMPROVED COMMUNICATION PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Club Secretary/Club Public Relations Director Objective: Objective No. 3: Improve the communication within the club and with the local community to increase awareness of the purpose and value of Rotary SMART Goals Public Relations Director and committee appointed annually Increased number of press releases Maintain number of Bulletin editions Increased number of member update forums Club paraphernalia fresh and up to date Incidence of Rotary apparel worn at club fundraising and service events Increased member satisfaction rating Improve the quality and quantity of communication internally and externally by appointing a public relations director to establish an effective public relations committee with direct responsibility for publishing the Bulletin, manage the website, coordinate the club's social media program and issue periodic press releases. Ensure all club activities are adequately Rotary branded. 1.Form effective PR team, using members/skilled volunteers. 2. Review current media strategy and re-publish 3. Integrate club communication software applications 4. Promote use of website, MyRotary and club social media sites widely and frequently within the club 5. Assign specific club meetings for club forums/member updates 5. Ensure Rotary apparel is worn at club fundraising and service events. 7. Ensure Rotary and club paraphernalia is fresh, up to date and displayed at club events 6. Work collaboratively with Council and partner community groups to jointly publicise joint activities. 7. 8 PRIORITY 4: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Club President, President-Elect and President-Elect Nominee () Objective: Objective No.4: Better develop leaders, in the club and beyond. SMART Goals Increased number of members engaged on committees Increased number of new members attending a Rotary training event Increased number of new members attending the annual D9800 Assembly Increased member attendance at D9800 Conference annually Increased in the number of members attending at least one training session annually Increase member attendance at Rotary Leadership Training Increased number of members making up at other clubs Increased attendance at joint club meetings Up-to-date club leader succession plan annually Increased member satisfaction rating Improve member engagement and retention and ensure club continuity through a deliberate program to identify, train and develop leaders within the club. 1. Formalise a development program for every new member based upon member interests, including a formal mentoring program. 2. Formalise club leadership development program, including attendance at the Rotary Leadership institute. 3. Maximise new member attendance at the annual District 9800 Training Assembly 4. Promote and encourage member attendance at District Conference, other club meetings and community forums. 5. Develop and maintain a pool of skilled, capable leaders from candidates who are leaders in their vocation, business and/or in the community. 6. Use our skills to develop leaders - create opportunities for vocational and personal development amongst members. 7. Develop formal club leader succession plan. 9 PRIORITY 5: FELLOWSHIP PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: s Director Objectives: Objective No. 1: Increase club membership and improve age, gender, cultural and vocational diversity. Objective No.3: Improve the communication within the club and with the local community to increase awareness of the purpose and value of Rotary SMART Goals: Increased attendance at designated 'fellowship' events Increased number of fellowship events conducted collaboratively Increased member satisfaction with fellowship opportunities Schedule regular fellowship events at club meetings with appeal to a broad membership base, encouraging cluster participation and engagement with Rotary events at District level. 1. Promote service and fundraising projects as an opportunity for fellowship (eg Camp Getaway activity). 2. Establish Fellowship Committee. 3. Develop a 'Fellowship' Plan annually in advance. 4. Design innovative 'Fellowship' activities, outside the usual routine (e.g. Cup Day Breakfasts). 5. Integrate Fellowship with every club activity. 6. Hold a 'Family Day' at Patterson Reserve to which family members, children, grandchildren can be invited - engage the whole family at Christmas? 7.
