2 Sonia Simon Alumna 2013 CHANGING LIVES DAILY We empower educate employ We inspire women to envision and begin the journey of realizing their best selves. We provide women with tools, training, and education necessary to sustain self-sufficiency. We offer women opportunities and coaching to secure and retain gainful employment. at a glance Every Woman Works has served over 1,500 women thereby positively impacting the lives of over 4,500 children. WOMEN By positively changing the life of one woman at a time we transform a family, a community, and ultimately a society. EWW is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that, since 2004, has served over 1,500 women and positively impacted the lives of over 4,500 children. The founder, Tillie O Neal-Kyles, became inspired to help some of the neediest women in the community starting with only her 401K and a prayer. Our staff is comprised of talented and gifted professionals who understand the unique set of circumstances and challenges endured by the women we serve. Miss Tillie, Founder WHO PARTNERS AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Women recovering from abuse learn healthy relationship skills and restore their intrinsic self-worth. DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND CHILDREN SERVICES Works to keep children and youth at home and provides services and support to help the family get back on track. DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN AFFAIRS Women Veterans face unique challenges that increase their susceptibility to homelessness. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Military Sexual Trauma are the largest mental health challenges women veterans face when readjusting to society. RECOVERY SUPPORT PROGRAMS Provides temporary housing and support for women while they are recovering from substance abuse and or homelessness. HOW BEES PROGRAM Our Bees program is a 6 week comprehensive program where the women we serve, our students, learn in a non-threatening, supportive environment. Students are provided the structure and tools necessary to achieve a spiritual foundation, family leadership, financial independence and personal growth. BEES VETS PROGRAM Our BEES VETS Program offers an additional 2 weeks of support and training customized for our students who are veterans.
3 the barriers We help the DEBILITATING BARRIERS Homelessness Substance Abuse Domestic Violence Unemployment WHOLE WOMAN Previous Incarceration PTSD and MST among Veterans MIND EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES Lack of Education Single Parents Depression Low Self Esteem BODY WHOLE WOMAN FOCUS Child Care Support Transportation to Work Cycle of Familial Poverty Children in Foster Care SPIRIT The Bee s Program offers a holistic approach that transforms each woman from the inside out by changing her heart, mindset and spirit. CYCLE OF DEPENDENCY Lack of life skills, education, and job skills Feelings of low self esteem and hopelessness Inability to provide and care for themselves and their children INDIVIDUAL COACHING Coaches reinforce daily application of newly learned skills. HOUR OF EMPOWERMENT We awaken a belief in one s self and instill hope for the future through scripture and its application to all facets of life. My name is Sonia Simon, and I have moved from dependency, to self-sufficiency. EMPOWER EDUCATE EMPLOY I had served 9 years in the Army and after returning from Iraq/Kuwait with PTSD, major anxiety, and depression, I was a homeless veteran who felt defeated emotionally, spiritually and mentally... I was suicidal, but fearful that if I had taken my life, my 9 year old son would never have an example to look up to... because the woman he knew as his mother, had given up on life. When I came to Every Woman Works, there was only one prayer in my heart, God, please don t let me self-destruct. HOUR OF EMPOWERMENT Instills faith in God and within, creating an environment that cultivates self-worth where women learn to become actively engaged in shaping their own destiny. JOB TRAINING & LIFE SKILLS Mock interviews, résumé writing, computer skills, etc. Health Screenings & Good Health Maintenance Parenting Skills Budgeting and Money Management CAREER DEVELOPMENT & MENTORING Ongoing support and coaching sessions, assessment reports, reviews of individual job performance Today, eight months after first being introduced to Ms. Tillie and her AMAZING staff at Every Woman Works, I have officially started my own business. I ve gained meaningful and purposeful employment with a managing broker at Keller Williams Roswell, and am in the process of finding the perfect little house (home) for my son Michael and me. I am no longer dependent on government assistance. I am choosing everyday to give back to society. I didn t have a job, didn t have a home, had maybe one change of clothes; I was into prostitution, I was into pretty men - I was into all of that. I was lost. I was in darkness. Then I came to Every Woman Works, and all of the sudden, there was a radiant light, and my spiritual eyes were opened. - Vera Moore, Alumna
4 the bees program CHALLENGES FACING THE WOMEN ORIENTATION AND GRADUATION The Bees Program is a 6 week intensive program taught by gifted professionals and mentors who coach women to self-sufficiency. The program is geared towards addressing the specific needs of the women they serve while empowering them to reach for more. THE 5 COMPONENTS HOUR OF EMPOWERMENT HEALTH AND WELLNESS LIFE SKILLS Where students learn goals and expectations of training & celebrate accomplishments upon completion Where students become empowered and begin to see themselves and their lives with promise and acquire the conviction to see it through Resume Writing Skills, Computer Skills, Dress for Success, and Interviewing Skills as well as Job Coaching Health Assessments, Education, Nutrition, Exercise and Cooking Enable personal change through lessons based on the principles of Covey s 7 Habits ; Overcoming Fear, Anger Management, Healthy Relationships, Parenting, and Financial Planning 3 TYPES OF DELIVERY BEES FLAGSHIP Onsite program delivered at Every Woman Works main location BEES SUITCASING Offsite program delivered at partner locations BEE VETS PROGRAM Onsite or Offsite program 100% 98% 67% 46% 25% are Low Income are Head of Household receive Government Assistance have Criminal Backgrounds have participated in a Substance Abuse Program POSITIVE EFFECTS OF THE BEES PROGRAM Our training produces a strong return by reducing the percentage of people on public assistance while strengthening families with higher wages and increasing the tax base in the communities. My drug of choice was alcohol. I never thought of drugs as a problem; they were really easy to give up, but the alcohol was a lot harder. I came to Miss Tillie s program and they firmed up that commitment that I was worth it, that God don t make no junk and in his eyes I was special. I think the biggest thing was the spiritual growth confirmation. - Frances Browning, former student of EWW and Office Manager since 2008 JASON S DELI KELLER WILLIAMS REALTY PUBLIX NORTH FULTON HOSPITAL TARGET THE POTTERY BARN STAPLES THE RENAISSANCE VETERAN S ADMINISTRATION
