There will be an opportunity for newcomers and current members to learn about our organization s upcoming programs, interest groups, and service projects for Directions to the Student Success Center: Driving Directions -- Head west on North Ave. The Visitor Parking Lot is just past the three-tier parking deck located next to the Alumni House. There is a parking fee. Park at the far end of the lot nearest the Alumni House, on the upper level. From here a skywalk is available over North Ave. with a sidewalk that leads directly to the Success Center. The Success Center is attached to the west side of the Football Stadium facing the Tech Tower. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. MARTA Directions Take MARTA to the North Ave. Station, located at the intersection of W. Peachtree St. and North Ave. Exit the station onto North Ave. and walk 31/2 blocks west along North Ave. The Success Center will be on the right. Please Note: The Student Success Center address is a Campus address and will not work with GPS or Google Maps. Enter the Alumni House address 190 North Ave. Atlanta, GA September-November 2011

Our academic year has arrived and we look forward to seeing you at our Open House on September 21st. This is always a time to reconnect and to welcome newcomers to our campus and club. Our theme this year is "Legendary Heritage-Limitless Future". Indeed we have some legendary experiences to reminisce as we look forward to our future with excitement and the goal of recruiting more new members. Judy Willis, our 1 st VP, has a wonderful slate of events planned for this year. I want to personally thank all of you who have stepped up to host an event this year -your dedication to GTFWC is much appreciated. We have a new Interest Group that will offer Community Service projects throughout the year. We will also be increasing our scholarship award money in order to benefit more deserving students or to increase the amount of each award. Thank you for your generous contributions to this effort. Many exciting progressive improvements are being implemented to make our club more visible across campus. Our board has been busy this summer working to make our year a memorable one. I truly appreciate all the board members for their willingness to serve and participate in our organization's success. Go East toward Norcross. At 4 th light, turn right onto Martin s Landing subdivision. Turn left onto Martin Road, continuing about ¼ mile will be on right, just beyond split rail fence. We have a GT Mailbox. If you get to the pool, you ve gone too far. All club members, spouses, and guests are invited to an informal and relaxing Sunday supper. Entrée and drinks are provided. Please contact co-hostess Peggy by October 3 rd to indicate if you will bring an appetizer, a side dish, or a dessert. STRATEGIC PLANNING For GTFWC Wednesday October 19 TIME: 10:00am 2:30pm PLACE: Student Success Center on Campus Room TBD PARKING: At the North Avenue parking lot. Carpooling is highly recommended. A box lunch will be included at no cost. We will need RSVP s no later than October 12. Our guest facilitator will be Chet Warzynski, from the Office of Development at Tech. Chet will lead a workshop on Strategic Planning for our Club. Surveys with questions concerning our future will be sent out electronically during the second week of September. Hard copies will also be available at the Open House. The survey results will be

See your Yearbook for more details and contact information. Hostesses: Nancy Allvine and Lee Suddath Want to learn to decorate for the holidays like the professionals? Join GTFWC members at THE HEENEY COMPANY, a wholesale business that supplies wonderful decorative items to decorators and businesses through out the area. The Heeney artists will give a demonstration on how to achieve a great look in your home for the upcoming holidays as well as other seasons. Following the demonstration, members will be allowed to shop in the warehouse. Reservations are required with payment of $15, as Affairs to Remember will prepare pre-ordered box lunches - so please see website and Wednesday Notes for reservation information. More details to follow. This event is open to Members ONLY. Sign up and payment due by November 9. INTEREST GROUPS for members only! Like to hike? Speak French? Read? Do Community Volunteer work? Well then, join one of the GTFWC s ten interest groups. That s right there are TEN (10) interest groups. And if you can t find one that suits your fancy, feel free to start one! Any participating and paid club member is welcome. The groups meet once per month and it is a wonderful way to develop strong friendships while sharing a mutual interest. This year we are very excited about two new interest groups COMMUNITY SERVICE chaired by Wendy Kohn and Aruna Srinivasan, and an EVENING BOOK CLUB chaired by Lynne Wepfer. The full line up of interest groups can be found in the GTFWC Yearbook. Please remember that participation is open ONLY to paid club membersand dues are a mere $35 per year. Since one of our daytime book groups is totally full (home size often determines just how large a group may realistically be), the idea for a new, evening group came about, hoping to give those who work or have other responsibilities in the day time an opportunity to enjoy good books and good discussions. Lynne looks forward to meeting new members this Fall. At The Open House A new Digital Yearbook will be available to browse at the Open House. It is a fantastic collection of photos from our events last year. Judy Willis and Jan Gaylord have worked with Creative Memories so after you see it, you may want to buy it, and you can with 20% off during their September sale. If you have not yet paid your dues for , you may do so at the Open House and still receive your Yearbook Directory that lists members, events and more! Log On, Save a Tree!
