2 CHAIRPERSON'S CONTRIBUTION Greetings and salutations from your chairpersons We re painting the county purple and we need everyone s help! May 20 and 21 is getting closer and we are excited with the participation we have so far, but there is always room for more. Volunteers are needed in several areas. Our overall fundraising goal for 2011 is $250,000. While that may seem challenging, we believe with more teams and all our efforts, we can exceed our goal. Team recruitment is our number one priority this month. Our team goal is 40. Teams are beginning to register and we are seeing a few new teams this year. We encourage you to talk to anyone and everyone who is in your circle of influence about starting a team and participating in the fight again cancer. We re hoping to have at least 1,000 participants walking at Lenoir Community College for Relay for Life. Wouldn t that be great! See you at the next team/committee meeting. 3 BARK FOR LIFE SATURDAY April 16th, 2011 Bark for Life is having their Easter Egg Hunt and Pictures with the Bunny on April 2, The location has not been announced yet, but please mark your calendars for the event! Also the Bark for Life walk will be held on April the 16th at the new Rotary Dog Park in Kinston, 10:00am to 2:00pm. More as the date gets closer! Our Christmas Pictures with Santa was a big success. PetSense was great! They have invited us to come back for additional fund raisers in the future. We had Rottweiler's, Chihuahuas and everything in between. Everyone said it was the most fun we've had yet. Our profit from that event was $330.00! Dec 18th & 19th we wrapped presents at the Vernon Park Mall and made some money for the team there. We're working hard to make a difference! Hope everyone will join us! Pat & Canine Casey

4 ********Events and Fundraisers******* Harvey Reverse Drawing It is going to be February 12th at 7:00 at the Kinston Shrine Club. Tickets are $ each for 2 steak dinners and a chance to win $10, Anyone interested in tickets can contact Mary Ann Craft at , Donna Bean at , or Stephanie Jarman at Thanks! Again this year we're going to offer Torches of Hope that can be bought for $ and will be displayed at our Relay event. This is a great way for a family or an office to honor a loved one. We'll also have special Gold Luminaria bags for $25.00 that will be displayed at the event. Don t forget our $10.00 Luminaria bags. All three can be purchased in honor and in memory of a loved one. Purple Bows are again being offered to the Relay Teams to sale for $10.00 each. You can purchase these at 3 different locations for $2.50 each.
