4 HEALTHCARE NJ CARES FOR KIDS (CHILDCARE) Low- and moderate-income working parents can receive state subsidies for child care, including preschool instruction, after-school programs for children up to age 13, and care for children and teens with special needs. NJ FAMILY CARE NJ FamilyCare is a federal and state funded health insurance program created to help New Jersey's uninsured children and certain low-income parents and guardians to have affordable health coverage. DENTAL HYGIENE CARE , extension 1074 staff.bcc.edu/dental/oralhealthsvcs.html Preventative services including exams, cleanings, X-rays, and fluoride treatments for a $5.00 fee. 1

5 HEATING / UTILITY BILL ASSISTANCE UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND PROGRAM (USF) The State of New Jersey created the Universal Service Fund (USF) program to help make energy bills more affordable for low income customers. THE LOW HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LHEAP) Designed to help low-income families and individuals meet home heating and medically necessary cooling costs. NJ STATEWIDE HEATING ASSISTANCE NJSHARES & REFERRAL ENERGY SERVICES (NJSHARES) An energy-assistance program that assists households who do not qualify for federal or state energy programs and whose income does not exceed 400 percent of the Federal Poverty Level. 2

6 HEATING / UTILITY BILL ASSISTANCE TEMPORARY RELIEF FOR UTILITY EXPENSES PROGRAM (TRUE) This one-time TRUE Grant assistance is intended for low-to-middle income New Jersey residents who are struggling to pay their electric and natural gas bills. The maximum grant is $750 for electric and $750 for gas service, depending on your balance owed. CATHOLIC CHARITIES EMERGENCY SERVICES OF BURLINGTON COUNTY Heating and utility bill assistance, access to free emergency food and groceries, assistance with rent, clothing and shelter, alternative housing, mortgage and foreclosure help, job resources, advocacy, information, referral to other government programs and consumer debt counseling. 3

7 HOUSING / RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANCE HOUSING AND RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES OF BURLINGTON EMERGENCY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES Provides assistance to eligible families and residents of Burlington County. Qualified individuals can get help with heating and utility bill payments, security deposits, back rent and housing expenses, and even funds for mortgage payments. SOUTH JERSEY LEGAL SERVICES This law firm provides quality, no cost legal representation, advice and advocacy to low-income individuals in Burlington County. Assistance is available for issues such as foreclosures, eviction, utility disconnections, and other cases. 4

8 NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS NJ SNAP Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly food stamps) to help those in need purchase groceries. BURLINGTON COUNTY WIC PROGRAM WIC provides supplemental nutritious foods to pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to the age of five. END HUNGER NJ 211 or Provides New Jersey residents with low income help through local food pantries and soup kitchens. FOUNTAIN OF LIFE CENTER Can provide food at most once every 30 days. 5

9 SHELTERS BURLINGTON COUNTY ACTION PROGRAM Single shelter, family shelter, transitional housing, soup kitchen, job training and counseling. DELAWARE HOUSE (CATHOLIC CHARITIES) Runaway youth shelter, job training, counseling. INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK A united outreach of Burlington County s religious communities that provides shelter, meals, and assistance to homeless families. BURLINGTON COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES Emergency assistance, housing assistance, food stamps and health coverage. 6

10 VARIOUS SUPPORT SERVICES WORK FIRST NJ (TANF) WFNJ provides temporary cash assistance and many other support services to families through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. BURLINGTON COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY Provides grants to pay bills, rent or mortgage. Other services include NJSHARES, discounted utility bills, weatherization services, LIHEAP, eviction prevention, emergency home repairs and job training. CHRISTIAN CARING CENTER Emergency 3-Day supply of food and clothing, thrift store, community lunch, NJ Shares Utility Program, Salvation Army Services Unit, job training, rural homeless outreach, men's shelter and various support services. 7

Assistance is available with food, heating and utility bills, rent expenses, back fees, security and utility deposits. CONSUMER CREDIT COUNSELING OF NJ Debt Management Program assists clients in a formal plan to repay credit card and medical debts. DRENK BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CENTER Soup kitchen/feeding program, job training and counseling. PROJECT HOMELESS Rooming house, resale store, & food pantry. 8
