Why should you attend the Spring District Meeting? The Spring District Meeting serves as the first round competition for New York State FBLA members. Advancing from this level of competition will give participants the opportunity to test their skills and knowledge at the second round of competition during the 2019 State Leadership Conference, in Binghamton this April. This meeting also serves as an opportunity to network with FBLA members all across District 10. $ Coin Challenge This year at our Spring District Meeting (SDM), February 1, we will be holding a Coin Challenge. We ask that all District 10 members bring their spare change to our SDM to place in their chapters' bucket. The chapter with the most amount of money in their bucket will be awarded a prize. All proceeds will go toward our State Charity, Reading is Fundamental. 2
starts Sunday, February 3rd and ends Saturday, February 9th. This is an excellent opportunity to inform the public about the purpose of school-to-work activities and programs. Here are popular ways to celebrate FBLA-PBL Week: Sunday: Share Your FBLA-PBL Story Day Share your FBLA-PBL story on social media. Tell why you joined, your favorite FBLA-PBL memory, or what FBLA-PBL has done for you. Tag your story on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with #FBLAPBLWeek. 3
Monday: National Presidents Forum & Fight to the Finish All three division national presidents (FBLA, PBL, and Professional Division) host a live Internet broadcast to kick off FBLA- PBL Week. Tuesday: Each One Reach One Day Talk to peers and community members about your FBLA-PBL experiences. And, of course, ask them to join! 4
District 10 Wednesday: Professional Attire Day/Adviser Appreciation Day Dress for success and share your appreciation for those that teach, lead, and mentor your chapter. Thursday: Career Awareness Day Get involved with your Professional Division and connect with community leaders. 5
District 10 Friday: FBLA-PBL Spirit Day Show your FBLA-PBL pride by posting a group photo to the FBLA-PBL Facebook page and using the hashtag #FBLAPBLWeek on Twitter and Instagram. Saturday: Community Service Day Choose a community service project to support. Suggested activities include working with the March of Dimes, volunteering at a homeless shelter, or conducting a blood drive. 6

District 10 Showcased Chapter Penn Yan Academy FBLA Apparel The Penn Yan Academy Chapter has designed FBLA apparel for their chapter featuring t-shirts and crewneck sweatshirts. Teacher Tip-Off Penn Yan Academy has also started to work on a fundraiser called "Teacher Tip-Off". "Teacher Tip-Off" is a basketball game that the teachers play. At half-time, they hold a contest and 50/50 raffle. The money that is raised from the event goes to the Penn Yan Academy FBLA Chapter. 8 Information Submitted by Rachel Wheeler and Taylor Chinski
Business Achievement Awards The Business Achievement Awards (BAA) is a high school leadership development program. This program is integrated with challenges that support the FBLA goals. BAA Levels The BAA has four levels, with each level becoming more challenging and expanding members leadership skills. Each level builds upon previous work, and students receive recognition when they complete each level. Students must be members of FBLA. Future Business Leader America More information can be found on the FBLA Website. 9
District 10 Social Media District 10 has recently taken on social media and created an Instagram account. This account will feature chapters from all across District 10 participating in FBLA activities and competitions. It will also serve as a reminder for upcoming events and deadlines.
