The SOURCE is a not-for-profit employee-support organization designed to help employees keep their jobs, receive training to enhance their employment, and help employees move into better positions within or across companies. The SOURCE works with employees from: American Autocoat Butterball Farms, Inc. Cascade Engineering Cascade Fresh Cleaning Co. Comfort Research Covenant Village of the Great Lakes Decc Co. Margaret joined The SOURCE's DHHS team in December She has 12 years of experience as a caseworker at the Department of Health and Human Services and has extensive knowledge of DHHS programs policies. "I am excited to be part of The SOURCE team and I am looking forward to helping member company employees." The SOURCE welcomes Margaret and wishes her well in her new assignment. Our office is open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Please call us at Tax season is happening at The SOURCE. We ll begin scheduling appointments starting Monday, January 28 for free tax preparation. Appointments will be offered Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. To qualify for free tax preparation at The SOURCE, you must meet the following income guidelines: For single individuals and families with no children that earn less than $27,00 Households with more than 1 person in the home earning less than $57,000 The SOURCE does not accept walk-ins for tax appointments. Please call in advance to schedule an appointment and to review what you need to bring to make your appointment successful. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please call The SOURCE at Featured stories An employee, who was pregnant, contacted The SOURCE because they were sleeping in their car. The employee had another child who was staying with a family member. They needed help paying for child care and finding a place to live. The resource navigator helped them apply for a child care subsidy through DHHS, and also enrolled the child in Medicaid and food assistance. The resource navigator helped the employee find a house to rent, and not long after, the employee was approved to move in. Currently, the employee is living in the house and continues to work with the resource navigator to obtain items for their new child. 2/5

3 Smart Ways to Use Your Tax Refund There are many ways to use tax refunds in smart ways, extra money can be helpful if you know where to invest it. Paying existing debt is where you want to start. Paying down credit card debt or car loans is the smartest money management moves for your tax refund. Get caught up on old bills can also be a way that tax refund can be extremely helpful. Getting caught up with overdue mortgage payments and other bills. Get ready for emergencies. Putting your tax refund toward your emergency savings account may not give you instant gratification but it will allow you to worry less. Accidents happen and it will give you peace of mind to not have to worry about unexpected expenses. Spend It on Something You Need. Are you having car trouble, need a new winter coat, or have you put off dental work? You need to take care of these essentials, and now that your refund is here, it can help cover the cost.
