2 What are you up to this summer? Be one step ahead of the rest. Take part in the National Citizen Service. Want to know more? An exciting and fun, action packed experience that you can take part in during your summer holiday. Try activities you won t have done before and work in a group on a project of your own design to help your local community. Who can get involved? The National Citizen Service is open to anyone who is currently in year 11; regardless of background or future plans. Why do it? > Have the most memorable summer ever > It s free of charge > Make new friends > Change your community for the better What do you get? > Build your confidence, leadership and teamwork > Gain new skills for future education or employment > Not got anything to put on your CV? You will have after this!

3 There are three main parts to the National Citizen Service The Steps The biggest things I have learnt are to accept people from all walks of life and to jump in head first to any activity and never look back. I strongly recommend the course to anyone. Group Bonding Get to know the other young people in your group during the induction week and a five day outdoor adventure residential. Face the Challenge Learn valuable skills during a five day local community residential and open your eyes to the problems in your community. Then use what you have learned to plan your community project during the following week. Charmaine Take Action Time to get started with your community project and enjoy watching the difference you are making.
