1 PO Box 2915 Hendersonville TN September 2017 The Newcomers and Community Club of Sumner County is hosting its fifth annual evening of Dinner, Entertainment, and Fashions on Friday, November 3 at Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club in Hendersonville. Named Garlands and Glitter, our event attracts community leaders and local celebrities with the purpose of generating funds for our chosen charity. The success of our event is dependent upon financial support from the Sumner County business community. This year our charity is the Sumner Teen Center (STC). The STC is important to our community because it provides a free, safe place for middle and high school teenagers to encourage their transition to responsible adults. They have after-school and summer programs and special weekend events. They are open to any middle or high-school student in Sumner County. They provide homework help, tutoring, internship, shadowing, and volunteer connections, mentoring; free workshops: art, music and drama; leadership development; team sports; cooking class; personal finance; college and career exploration, and a lot more. They also provide biweekly heart programs for teens with special needs on the first and third Tuesday of every month. Newcomers & Community Club has existed for more than 25 years; our purpose is to extend a welcoming hand to both new & existing residents of the Sumner County area and to promote good fellowship within the community through social and charitable activities. We hold monthly luncheons and make a donation each month to a local community charity. We are asking for your help to make our event a success and maximize our fund raising. Sponsorships are available in a variety of levels, and all sponsorship funds will directly benefit the Sumner Teen Center. Both the Sumner Teen Center and Newcomers & Community Club are non-profit, tax exempt organizations and we can provide receipts for tax purposes upon request. Sponsorships can be purchased via cash, check, or credit card. Sponsorships come with a variety of benefits, including significant advertising exposure and tickets to the event, depending on the level of sponsorship. 2 Fact Sheet HolidayFest is an umbrella organization that promotes and markets various events throughout the Fall and Christmas Holiday Seasons. This annual festival of events brings together the entire community - its people, businesses, social and service organizations, local government and the arts - to celebrate the spirit of the season and to extend a helping hand. Who: The Newcomers & Community Club of Sumner County will host its 5th Annual Garlands & Glitter Fashion Show to benefit The Teen Center of Sumner County. Newcomers is a social and charitable, non-profit organization that extends a welcoming hand to newcomers as well as existing residents who wish to connect or reconnect to their community. It promotes good fellowship and community awareness through numerous functions, speakers and activities, and gives back to its community. The Sumner County Teen Center. Since its Grand Opening on August 14, 2014, the Center has provided 800+ hours of after school mentoring and coaching, life skills workshops and programs, homework help and writing assistance, along with 2,500+ hours of recreation and 600+ hours of community service. It has made a difference in the lives of 550 high school students, 70+ middle schoolers and 50 special needs students.
