1 Job Description Service Job Title Base Hours Inspire East Lancashire Integrated Substance use Service Service User Involvement & Peer Mentor Co-ordinator Accrington 37.5 hours per week Salary Range 21, , per annum (CGL payscale 23-28) Reports to Operating Principles Purpose of Job Team Leader CGL has developed a number of operating principles that it believes are essential to providing effective and inspirational care and support for its service users. They should be viewed as overarching expectations for all roles at CGL. All staff will contribute to the ongoing development of an ambitious, inspirational and outcome focussed culture at every level of service delivery. All roles will tangibly contribute to provide hope, empowerment, choices, control and opportunities that promote people reaching their full potential as individuals and community members. All service delivery will model the belief that we all have the potential to make positive changes and to lead meaningful and purposeful lives, as involved and contributing members of society. Under the direction of the Management team, and with support from the Regional Peer Mentor and Volunteer Co-ordinator the post-holder will build on the existing Recovery opportunities in East Lancashire through the delivery of the Foundations of Recovery Program, the delivery of the Peer Mentor programme and the development of Service User involvement and partnerships with service user forums. The post holder will identify, recruit, train and manage a group of service user s reps, and Peer Mentors who will receive intensive and comprehensive packages of training to further their personal development and contribute to the development and delivery of a recovery oriented service across East Lancashire. The post holder will develop a co-ordinated service across all localities ensuring the specific needs of all areas and client groups are met. The post holder will recruit, train, supervise & co-ordinate peer mentors within the CGL framework to ensure the provision of quality services.

2 The post holder will work with existing service user groups, in addition to developing additional Service User forums and groups as required, in order to promote, support and gain feedback for meaningful service user involvement in all areas of East Lancs service delivery. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within an agreed number of hours and across operational sites as required to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision including late nights and weekends. The post holder will be expected to take responsibility for their own learning and development and fully engage with learning and development, supervision and appraisal requirements as per CGL policies. They will work closely with partners RRR and Emerging Futures as well as the BRIC coordinator to coordinate recovery opportunities across East Lancashire Key Activities: To develop and maintain the co-ordination of an effective service user involvement, peer mentor training and placement scheme within the East Lancashire Integrated Recovery Service. Coordinate and where required deliver the Peer Mentor and Service User Rep Training programme. a. Coordinate the assessment of the Peer Mentor and Recovery Training programmes b. In collaboration with staff, partners, volunteers and Peer Mentors develop Peer Mentor roles that benefit Peer Mentor development and service delivery. To identify, recruit, train, supervise & co-ordinate peer mentors across East Lancashire in accordance with CGL policies, frameworks and procedures. Coordinate the effective transition of Peer Mentors from training through to placement within CGL, RRR, partner Services and the wider community. In collaboration with other staff coordinate effective supervision structures for Peer Mentors and Service User Reps. Deliver supervision to Peer Mentors and Service User Reps as required. Work with partnership organisations to develop and sustain effective comprehensive treatment pathways and broaden the client s recovery plan accordingly. To support individuals into paid employment and/or relevant training, education or occupation To ensure the promotion of meaningful Service User involvement and contribute towards the Quality Improvement tool audits in relation to Service User Involvement To develop and co-ordinate a Peer Mentor buddy system for new clients entering the service across the East Lancashire area.

3 To work with the Regional Peer Mentor and Volunteer Co-ordinator to ensure the effective development and improvement of programmes. To be responsible for the risk management and Health & Safety requirements of the peer mentoring service To establish and maintain links with partner agencies and local support services To ensure that peer mentor records are maintained effectively and stored in accordance with Data Protection requirements To work towards the achievement of outcomes/targets as per the Service Level Agreement to ensure consistently high standards of service delivery. To work with Service Users to co-ordinate the regular publication of CGL s Service User Magazine To ensure regular service user consultations are carried out within the Service To contribute to monthly, quarterly and annual statistical returns and reports on the service. To work towards ensuring the achievement of outcomes/targets attached to the project s funding. General terms of reference: In carrying out the above duties the post holder will: Work flexibly across operational sites as required Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours of work to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This may include evening and weekend cover. Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge and skills. Participate in appraisal, training and supervision processes. Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation and practice relevant to the relevant client group. Ensure the implementation of all CGL policies. Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment. 6 Experience of liaising and working with professionals from a variety of services Commitment to involving service users in service development and strategy development and initiating change Understanding of statutory framework, guidance and good practice in relation to involvement, engagement and consultation. Knowledge of drug and alcohol policies and interventions designed to address substance misuse Knowledge of the range of drug and alcohol related problems and their impact upon individuals, family and community Knowledge of effective ways of engaging and involving service users Ability to make contact with socially excluded service users and know how and where to make contact with them Have or be willing to work towards achieving a recognised qualification in the delivery of accredited training courses And the ability to: Communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing. Respond flexibly to the demands of the post. Work as a member of a team. Show a capacity to work alone and the ability to keep calm under pressure.
