We are working on the agenda for the meeting now. If you have a great idea for a topic..let us know and maybe we can include it this year.

2 Trending. What are we seeing during inspections this year??? Conference for Food Protection Reports In our last TIPS Newsletter we talked about the Conference for Food Protection (CFP) report we are using as part of our 2017 inspections if you operate a Complex Menu food establishment. As a reminder, this CFP report helps identify Foodborne Illness Risk Factors and Good Retail Practices. Foodborne Illness Risk Factors would normally show up as critical items on your inspection report and are directly related to foodborne illness. Good Retail Practices are preventative measures used to control the addition of biological, chemical, and/or physical hazards into menu item preparation. Items identified as Good Retail Practices would normally show up as non-critical items on your inspection report. We have implemented using this CFP report to help us communicate to you and help you understand the risk level associated with items identified for correction on your inspection report. CFP Inspection Trends As of August 14, 2017 we have used the CFP report during 143 inspections. During these inspections we have identified 201 Foodborne Illness Risk Factors and 337 Good Retail Practice Violations. The two most common Foodborne illness Risk Factors identified during inspections have been Proper date marking & disposition, followed by Food contact surfaces: cleaned & sanitized. These two risk factors have accounted for 97 of the 201 Foodborne Illness Risk Factors identified. The two most common Good Retail Practice violations identified during inspections have been Physical facilities installed, maintained, & clean, followed by Food & non-food contact surfaces cleanable, properly designed, constructed, & used. These two Good Retail Practice violations have accounted for 149 of the 337 Good Retail Practices violations identified. This summary allows you to see these trends in Foodborne Illness Risk Factors and Good Retail Practice violations identified during our 2017 inspections so far and their frequency. Are any of these Risk Factors or violations of Good Retail Practices occurring at your establishment? Look for them.don t become part of this trend! See you soon! As we have told you many, many times...minnesota is STILL in the process of revising the Minnesota Food Code. We will continue to provide you with the latest rulemaking updates in future issues of TIPS, but right now this is where the revision to the Food Code stands. MDH s legal counsel has reviewed the draft Minnesota Food Code rule revision language and the Statement of Need and Reasonableness. Her review was delayed by her need to attend and testify at 2017 legislative hearings on bills making significant changes to the rulemaking process. We have been told that the Public Hearings for this new legislation may be held later this fall. As soon as we know dates for the Public Hearings we will let you know so you can participate if you would like to. Thank you for your patience! 7 Mandatory Licensing Meeting Times and Places Each year every licensed food establishment in Brown, Nicollet, Cottonwood or Watonwan County is required to send at least one owner or manager to one of the following Licensing Meetings. Please review the following schedule of meeting times and places and make plans now to attend one of these meetings. You will be receiving your Food/Beverage License Application for 2018 at these meetings.
