NEW MEMBERS: Enroll using the above information! (We have found that older versions of Internet Explore do not support 4honline due to security issues that could arise. Always use an updated web browser like Firefox or Chrome.) Need computer help?? Stop in the office and use one of ours! **Get your registration fee paid your registration is not complete until payment is made. 2 Food Safety Meeting With the number of fundraisers that all our clubs do, we must remember the safety for those who will eat the meal. We are asking each Tama County 4-H Club to send H members and 1-2 adults to attend this Food Serve Safety meeting. (The adult does not need to be the leader.) Clover Kids will have their own training at a meeting. Monday, October 22 6:30-8:00 p.m. Tama County Extension and Outreach Office A light snack provided After completing the meeting, those attending will be given resources to take back to their next club meeting to share the information learned. Let s keep everyone safe! Leader Meeting There are many state updates that we need all leaders to learn about. Please join us on: Thursday, October 25th 6:30-8:30 p.m. (a meal will be served) Tama County Extension and Outreach Office We appreciate all that our leaders do! County Council members will be serving a meal to our leaders at 6:30 p.m. (If you have a special dietary need, please contact the Extension Office) Yearly forms will be completed at this meeting. Please bring your club s annual calendar to this meeting. **This is a very important meeting that we want ALL leaders at. If you cannot attend, please contact the Extension Office.
3 October 7th, 12-4 p.m. Otter Creek We ll kick off National 4-H week celebrating at the Tama County Nature Center on October 7th from noon to 4 p.m. 4-H will be there plus lots of other fun activities. Invite your friends and family to this event! And we ll continue the fun all week long! Each day is a fun theme that we will post on facebook. Don t have facebook, you can still participate just send us an with your picture/memory (jhulme@iastate.edu) Make sure to promote 4-H to your friends and invite them to join! And invite alumni to participate too! Monday, October 8: Membership! Share if you re a current member or a alumni Share how many years you ve been a 4-H member and your club s name. Tuesday, October 9: Appreciation Day! Share some appreciation for those 4-H club leaders or 4-H Extension Office Staff that have impacted your 4-H life. Share a memory or write a thank you! Wednesday, October 10: Spirit Day! Wear your 4-H shirt to school or work! Take a picture. Schools with the most students wearing a 4-H shirt and posting to our county facebook page wins a prize! Thursday, October 11: TBT Thursday Share a favorite picture from a previous fair! Friday, October 12: 4-H Event Day There are so many great events/ activities you can participate in as a 4-H member! What is your favorite event/activity you have participated in? Share you memory or a photo! ISU Extension and Outreach/4-H Tama County
4 Club Food Collection Challenge Help stop hunger in Tama County. Keep collecting non-perishable food until October 7th. During National 4-H Week (October 7-13), clubs need to collect their food and build a tower, a castle, any kind of design you want! Showcase the food you have collected by taking a picture of it and send it to jhulme@iastate.edu. We will put the pictures on our county Facebook page beginning at 8 am on October 17 thru 4:30 pm October 19. The club with the most likes will win a prize! Tama County 4-H Let s Stop Hunger And don t forget to raise $$$ for Meals from the Heartland. Our goal is $3,200.00!! And we will package them in April! County 4-H Roller Skating Party! Let s celebrate 4-H in Tama County. October 14 6:00-8:00 p.m. For all 4-H members and their families at the Vinton Skating Ring. Cost is $2.00 per skater Bring a snack to share RSVP to the Extension Office by Wednesday, October 10th. **Prizes for the individuals wearing the most green!
5 Mark Your Calendars Sunday, November Award s Program Toledo Reinig Center 5:00 p.m. Potluck & Award s Program to follow Bring a dish or two to share with everyone. Table ware and drink will be provided Who receives awards at the Award s program? Special recognition for all Clover Kids, membership awards, leader recognition, project awards, record book awards, completion awards. It s a great way to celebrate and to look forward to the H year! Saturday, November 18 4-H Soup Supper ( Soup with Santa ) Toledo Reinig Center 5:00-7:00 p.m. Help will be needed from each club for this event. More information to come. Money raised will go to helping Tama County 4-H members who would like to attend county, state and national 4-H events. December 9 Mentor Meeting 6-7:30 p.m. at the Extension Office If this is your first year in 4-H, you will be invited to attend this information meeting and be introduced to an older 4-H member who will help you through your first year in 4-H. Saturday, January 26, 2019 Winter Carnival Traer Memorial Building 5:30 7:30 p.m. **Saturday, December 22 Beef Weigh-in at Tama Livestock Auction Snow date will be Sunday, December 23 Saturday, March 30, 2019 Swine Weigh-In (Time and location to be determined) Saturday, May 4, 2019 Goat and Sheep Weigh-in (Fairgrounds) Tama County Fair is July Iowa State Fair is August 8-18 Remember the Tama County Fair Rule All 4-H members and Clover Kids must have attended at least three business meetings of their primary 4-H club by June 1, 2019 in order to exhibit at the 2019 Tama County Fair.
