1 New Freedom Lions Club Newsletter We Serve Chartered 1933 Dist. 14C, Zone 4-B President, Lion Kerry McKnight October, 2017 ~ Roar from the President ~ Fellow NFLC Lions, The temperature is indeed changing as we transition into fall weather. However, areas of North America and the Caribbean have been undergoing hurricanes, floods, and even earthquakes. Southern York County residents are grateful we have not needed to endure any of these natural disasters. Lions Clubs always seemed to be prepared to help each other when faced with situations such as these recent events. Many Lions Clubs are coming to the rescue, including our own New Freedom Lions Club, by donating to Lions Clubs International Foundation in record amounts since these tragedies began. Funding is not the only contribution being given. Supplies of all types are also being shipped to these affected areas by Lions, Lionesses, and Leo's from around the country. We should be proud to be members of the greatest service organization in the world.

2 - Roar - cont. On another topic, I ask that all NFLC members make an attempt to attend the October 3rd meeting in the Lion's Room as we will be hosting District Governor Dennis Cope for the annual DG visit. Governor Dennis is already well aware of all the excellent services NFLC performs for our community and will share his thoughts about Lions Clubs. See you there. Susan Blum gets inducted into the New Freedom Lions Club by President Kerry while her husband / sponsor, Lion Jeff Blum looks on.

3 LCIF Please give serious consideration to donating through LCIF's Contributing Member program ($20, $50 or $100). You will be recognized by receiving a bronze, silver, or gold lapel pin showing the year of contribution. I will be accepting individual donations at NFLC meetings. Let's strive to help those in need. Lion Deb Club LCIF Coordinator New Freedom Lions In & Out Yard Sale Saturday, October 14th 8 am until 2 pm NF Community Center Many vendor spaces still available. 7 ! Dutch Says Boy, this month has been a hard month to be Lion Gail's Leader dog.. You see Lion Gail's granddaughter had a birthday party. At the party there was a bouncy house that I wanted to get into but there was a sign that read No Pets Allowed. I could see how much fun everyone was having. I wanted to have fun too, but Lion Gail wouldn t let me play even though I was giving her the sad puppy dog eyes. Not that that wasn't enough for one day, but then we went to see the Outlaws at the race. To make sure the sound didn't hurt my ears, Lion Gail had me wear headphones and my thunder shirt. Have you ever heard of anything like that before? But by the end of the month it was my birthday and Steve and Lion Gail took me to go swimming with my sister's 3 dogs. Then we went to go eat were I get my order before Steve and Lion Gail. Well I am going to rest up for November s Thanksgiving. Food is something nice to dream about.. Bye for now ~ Dutch
