2006 Club Charter Review date 1/1/2008
The Canberra Torana Club was formed in mid January It s philosophy as described within the Club Charter, is to preserve the history and experience of the Holden Torana for future generations to enjoy. In it s day to day business the Canberra Torana Club also recognises that it must consider the economic, social and environmental impacts on its members and the community. In achieving our aims, the club is committed to bringing people together in the Canberra and surrounding region that share a common interest in the Holden Torana and in doing so, provide interesting and meaningful events that allow members to maximise the enjoyment of their car and the social aspects the club has to offer. We have members with Torana models of all types, standard and modified and at various stages of restoration. Even if you don t have a Torana, but are interested in a progressive active car club, you are welcome to join. If your Torana is currently under restoration you are more than welcome on runs in your daily driver. Runs often provide the inspiration needed to get that project finished. Don t wait till it s finished to join us, members have a good knowledge of Toranas, spare parts, and suppliers, and are only too happy to assist. The Club has a very active For Sale column on the website, viewed Australia wide. The Canberra Torana Club brings people together through various social activities, meetings and fund raising activities. Upcoming events are available through our website and in our bi monthly newsletter. We hold our monthly club meetings on the third Monday of each month at the Burns Club in Kett Street, Kambah and anyone interested is very welcome to come along. The Canberra Torana Club prides itself in supporting local charities where possible. To date we have attended the Kids with Cancer Convoy, for the past three years, to help raise funds for the ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group; and McHappy Day for the past two years at the Queanbeyan McDonalds Restaurant. Whether you have an exceptional show car, a daily runabout, a project in progress or simply an interest in Toranas, you and your family are welcome to be part of the Canberra Torana Club. The Canberra Torana Club Inc is open to all 2
Our Vision what we want to achieve To preserve the history and experience of the Holden Torana for future generations to enjoy. Our Mission what we are here to do To maintain a Holden Torana Car Club for the ACT and the surrounding region that provides the best balance for members and the community in terms of social, economic and environmental outcomes. Our Values what we will strive for. Promoting and encouraging the ownership of the Holden Torana. Achieving the highest standards possible including excellence in administering club affairs. Treating each other with respect and dignity. Welcoming all people to the club and valuing their diversity. Maintaining a friendly and supportive club. Providing a safe environment for all who participate. Accessibility for all members of the community. Deliver value for money to our members. To be environmentally responsible. 3
Our Aims and Objectives how we will do it. Our social aims and objectives are: Assist members of the community to obtain and maintain their Toranas regardless of membership status. Encourage and provide opportunities for members of the community to join the club wherever possible. Encourage attendance by members at runs/functions meetings and displays Provide relevant information about the club to members and the community. Encourage a high standard of behaviour by members as drivers. Provide structured, safe and interesting runs/functions and displays for members to attend. Promote and maintain a family friendly environment for members of the club. Promote a positive image of the club to the community. Participate in a national network of car clubs where possible Take into account the needs of our stakeholders in relation to the economic, social and environmental aspects of the club. Our economic aims and objectives are : We will ensure value for money for our members through: Providing the lowest possible joining and annual membership fees for existing and prospective members. Providing the lowest possible costs to members for runs/functions and displays. Actively seek sponsorship for the club by reputable businesses. 4
Provide runs/functions and displays for members to attend that are economically responsible. Be open and accountable to our members and any other relevant stakeholder regarding our club business. Seek opportunities to provide income for the club through raffles and other revenue generating activities. Our Environmental objectives are : Provide best practice driver education and advice where possible for member/drivers within the club that promotes responsible driver behaviour. Liase with community groups and government bodies regarding environmental and community issues that effect the club. Actively lobby local and federal governments regarding best outcomes for the club. To provide leadership and management in these values and objectives of the club, the Canberra Torana Club has a committee of 9 Positions. They are: President Vice President Treasurer Secretary Web Master Runs and Functions Coordinator Membership Officer Club Editor Member Representative A set of club rules has also been developed. A copy of these rules are available on the Canberra Torana Club web site ( members only section) or from any club official. The club recommends that members make themselves familiar with these rules and use them as a guide to maintaining the enjoyment of the club for all. 5
