This year, we are planting seeds in the Edmonton community as we aim to expand our services in order to help our participants in all areas of the city. For more than 30 years, The Mustard Seed has been supporting Edmonton s most vulnerable community by meeting participants where they are at, and walking alongside them as they journey towards a better life down the road. With poverty in Edmonton growing and moving out of the inner city, The Mustard Seed is expanding to meet the needs of our participants and restoring hope by providing support, compassion, and assistance. 3 WHO WE ARE The Mustard Seed is a charitable, Christian organization that builds community, grows hope and supports change for people experiencing poverty and homelessness. We care for those in need by walking alongside them on their journey towards a life of wellness, dignity and independence. We strive to create a meaningful difference within the Edmonton community and in the lives of those facing poverty. For over 30 years, The Mustard Seed has supported Edmontonians by providing a safe and supportive place where people experiencing problems associated with poverty and homelessness can have their needs met. The Community Support Centre, which holds our main offices, provide participants with reintegration services as well as basic items including free clothing, hygiene products, and small household items. Additionally, The Mustard Seed s Housing First philosophy connects community participants with safe, affordable housing through Open Door Manor and Westwood Manor. As pockets of poverty are now growing and moving out of the inner city and into neighbourhoods throughout Edmonton, The Mustard Seed has responded by moving to a community hub model. The Mustard Seed established its first community hub in 1988 with the 96th Street Building (previously Central Baptist Church). Today, the 96 Street location offers participants meal service, a food depot and several daytime services and programs. In the past two years, The Mustard Seed has expanded its operations by merging with the Neighbour Centre, the only adult drop-in in the south side of Edmonton, and the Mosaic Centre, located in the area of Fort Road.
