1 Role Profile We re Breast Cancer Now, the UK s largest breast cancer charity and we re dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease. We believe that if we all act now, by 2050, no one will die from breast cancer. But we ll only reach that point by working in a new, collaborative way. We re bringing together all those affected by the disease to improve the way we prevent, detect, treat and stop the disease. So we can move from a time when people fear breast cancer to a generation where everybody lives. Role title Directorate Reports to Direct reports Contract Community Engagement Officer Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Community Engagement Manager N/A Permanent Overview of the team The National Fundraising team, which consists of Challenge Events, Student Fundraising and Community Fundraising, work with thousands of supporters every year many of whom will have a personal reason for supporting the cause. We are responsible for providing opportunities for people to get involved whatever their passion and ability while providing sound fundraising advice and sharing the impact of their fundraising on our mission to achieve the 2050 goal. We pride ourselves on building long term relationships with supporters and we have the opportunity as a new charity to develop sector leading campaigns and tactics in order to transform the local and regional engagement of people with the breast cancer cause. Purpose of the role To raise as much money and awareness for Breast Cancer Now in your regional patch (TBC) to support the delivery of the Community Engagement Strategy Enable supporters to flourish and grow their contribution to Breast Cancer Now through contributing their time, money, impact and developing a long term relationship with them Drive new business across the regional patch to grow income and support for Breast Cancer Now Key accountabilities Supporter/Account Management: Expert relationship management in your regional patch of current key supporters across all Community audiences and plan, implement and evaluate activities to deliver maximum income. Provide excellent supporter care in all areas of work and work collaboratively across Fundraising to ensure supporters receive co-ordinated support and stewardship, encouraging them to widen & increase their support for Breast Cancer Now New Business and Recruitment: Recruit and develop relationships with key supporters and their networks (including individuals, small and medium sized enterprises, schools and groups and associations) maximising their lifetime commitment (financial and non-financial) to Breast Cancer Now
2 Planning, Reporting and Budgets: Deliver against KPI s for your regional patch and continually grow net contribution. Report monthly on activities, budgets and targets, highlighting and taking action in response to variances in income and expenditure Insights: Provide supporter insight to help with recruitment across patches and provide learnings to other Community Engagement Officers. Share supporter/patient insight with the Research, Policy and Information Directorates that will influence future campaigning and influencing work Legal & Risk: Ensure that the Breast Cancer Now brand is apparent in and not compromised when used by supporters. Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date and organised records for all supporters and prospects using Breast Cancer Now s database. Ensure all supporter information is managed and stored in-line with Data Protection regulations Any other duties as directed by and agreed with your line manager General responsibilities Be an ambassador at events, supporting the delivery of Breast Cancer Now s vision and ensuring that the charities profile and reputation are enhanced Monitor and manage your regional patch budgets on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, to deliver budgeted income and expenditure Champion local and regional supporter engagement and activity, to ensure that organisationally we are maximising our community relationships to give the greatest return to Breast Cancer Now. Develop good understanding of your region, the relevant projects BCN funds there and other nearby supporters to match their interests and networks in relevant ways that drive fundraising and awareness for BCN. Support and deliver other projects and tasks, in line with your skills and experience that might occur within the Fundraising Directorate and contribute to the overall organisational objectives above and beyond your role Person Specification Experience We would like you to have the following experience: At least 2 years of fundraising experience (ideally Community) Experience of recruiting and managing supporters from different audiences such as high value individuals, companies, groups and associations Experience of achieving and surpassing your targets Experience of winning new business from research, pitching and proposal writing Experience of implementing a plan Experience of building rapport and networking Experience of inspiring supporters to take action Experience of working with volunteers and supporters and a) understanding what motivates them to support a charity and raise money, and b) driving a supporter care plan to deliver their support Exceptional organisational and time management skills Experience of personally delivering to defined and challenging goals
