2 Transforming Young Lives As a foundation for young people, we are committed to creating brighter futures, giving them the tools, opportunities and support that they need. By supporting positive, life-changing and life-enhancing activities we can improve the health and education of hundreds of children and young people. Children like Ava, who was born with cystic fibrosis and who relies on activities and care that we fund at her family s local children s centre. And young people like Jack, whose mum is an alcoholic and who was sofa-surfing and without prospects until we gave him a chance at training and a new career in hospitality through our Galvin s Chance into-work programme. DM Thomas Foundation for Young People (DMTFYP) has a special focus on supporting young people with disabilities; on relieving homelessness and providing employment opportunities; on enhancing the experiences of life-limited children in hospice care; and on supporting sick children in hospital. We want to help disadvantaged and vulnerable young people to set and achieve goals, to beat or alleviate illnesses and to develop their skills and experiences. Our projects provide training, equipment, experiences and support so that young people can reach their full potential. We focus on partnering with local organisations, which often struggle to attract support. Thanks to unwavering help from thousands of volunteers and our generous donors, the Foundation helps young people like Ava and Jack to have a brighter future.

3 What We Do Thanks to our local networks, we reach directly into communities and offer help where it is needed. Under the ABLE banner, we run a number of campaigns that seek to support young people and provide funding to smaller charities that may be overlooked. We provide educational equipment and facilities, sporting opportunities and training to young people who are sick and disabled so they can achieve their full potential. We provide new and specialist equipment such as ceiling hoists, computers, audiobooks, mobility scooters and much more, to enable young people with disabilities to improve their education and achieve their goals. We provide sports equipment and tournaments specially devised for young people with physical disabilities. We also improve facilities through investments in refurbishment and by updating resources which benefit young people in need. We provide medical equipment and care for young people who are sick or life-limited so that they can beat or ameliorate their conditions and enhance their lives. With a focus on supporting young people who are sick with diseases such as cancer or who suffer from chronic conditions, we support the costs of medical equipment and specialist care. We provide treatments such as intensive physiotherapy, health education, counselling and facilities for young people who may have been bullied, or who require respite activities. Through our work we aim to enable these young people to beat or manage their conditions.

4 We provide life-skills, training and opportunities for disadvantaged young people (including those who are affected by homelessness) so that they can secure employment. Training on budgeting, cooking, painting, gardening and CV clinics are just a few of the life skills we have supported to enable young people to make brighter futures for themselves. We have supported young people who are disadvantaged by homelessness or through their personal circumstances to gain work experience, secure a job and improve their prospects. Young people who have been in prison or face other obstacles to employment have been offered a lifeline with training and employment opportunities through our Galvin s Chance into-work programme. With an 80% success rate for helping young people into sustained employment, this is a key programme for DMTFYP. We provide confidence building opportunities and wish experiences for young people so that they can fulfil their dreams and create brighter futures for themselves. We support young people, who may feel isolated or low due to their ill health, disability or circumstances, to build their confidence. We do this by supporting their participation in group activities, team building and outdoor adventures, as well as opportunities for project delivery, coaching others and public speaking. Additionally, thanks to our unique position and active networks in the hospitality sector, we partner with wishgranting charities, delivering special trips and experiences for life-limited and severely disabled children.
