5 There are still MORE opportunities with The FOUNDATION We have an on-going need for child care the third Thursday of most months throughout the year and occasionally on other dates for special events. If you are interested in a leadership role on our Child Care Team, we would love to talk with you! We are also recruiting Social Media Interns to help us capture photos and video during the events. If you think you have what it takes to fill this role at our events, please apply here and we will be in touch with you! We love to share all the amazing things our members are doing and are always looking for photographers who can help us tell our story. If you love taking pictures and would like to make a difference with this profession (or hobby), we would love to utilize your time and talent! Please contact Christine.Bancalari@dsfflorida.org to join our Volunteer Marketing Team. SAVE THE DATE! In October, we will be soliciting volunteers for our annual CAMPING JAMBOREE at Jetty Park, November 2-4. This is a fantastic reason to hit the beach and make a difference. From being a beach buddy or a fishing pal, to helping at our BBQ dinner and bonfire, there is something for everyone who enjoys the Florida coast. Our annual It's a Wonderful Life - Holiday Party is always a good time for everyone, including our volunteers! This year the event will be on December 1st. Our Volunteer Spotlight: The many things we LOVE about bike camp is our volunteers. Our volunteers commit to coming out for at least one session every day all week. We do this so our riders can have the same volunteer each day and it also allows for a better experience for the volunteer they see their rider go from being scared to ride to a successful bike rider. It becomes a team effort. Over and over again, we watched our volunteers treat our riders with respect and compassion. Doing whatever they could to help them to continue to work hard to achieve their goal of being an independent bike rider. The 5 of 7 Vincent has been volunteering for Bike Camp for six years now and has over 100 sessions of volunteering hours under his belt. He says he just loves connecting with the riders and being a part of this community. Thank you Vincent! 11/28/18, 11:10 AM
6 reason we have such a successful bike camp is because we have a large group of committed and caring volunteers--many whom come back year after year. For this reason, we have featured two of our "Super" volunteers! We could not do this event without them. Joe has been volunteering for seven years now. He also works at Orange Cycle and helps our riders find an appropriate bike to learn on and take home at the end of the week. He says he loves the feeling he gets working with the riders and he just can't stay away. We can't thank Joe enough! Just over a year ago we welcomed Angela to our team as our Program Coordinator! She came to Orlando from Miami, Florida with a goal to continue to work towards a society that is all inclusive, using education, activity, work, and awareness to show just that! We certainly believe she met her goal while working with us! She helped us create some wonderful memories and made some great friends along the way! She will be leaving The FOUNDATION to pursue her career in sports administration at a local college. She attended Barry University and received her Bachelor of Science in Sports Management as well as her Master's of Science in Sports Management. She was also part of the Women's Rowing Team that won two NCAA National Championships. Prior to joining us, she worked as the Sports Coordinator with Special Olympics Florida Miami-Dade. We knew it wouldn't take long for her to find her way to a great role in the world of athletics in our community. We could not be more happy for her to follow her dreams! We know she will be an asset to their team! We wish her the very best and hope we will get to see her smile 6 of 7 11/28/18, 11:10 AM
