2 $.25 Cents a Meal Meals that Matter Friends and Family Community Connection is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation located in San Diego, CA. Formed in 1996, FFCC s purpose is to meet the needs of families and individuals starting in our local community. Through partnerships with community and faith based organizations, Friends and Family provides early intervention programs for at risk families and under-privileged families and individuals. FFCC has developed a number of community based outreach programs identified on our website. A major concern in San Diego is addressing the growing food in-security need. FFCC conducts food packaging events throughout the county providing thousands of non-perishable meals that are distributed to families and individuals in need. Sample of San Diego s Fight Against Hunger Event flyer Become a Positive Force The Always Positive Foundation has joined forces with FFCC to organize food packaging events that are hosted by various partners and held on college campuses, church halls, school gymnasiums, corporate meeting facilities and even stadiums. These events bring together hundreds, sometimes thousands, of volunteers - each prepared to donate time and money to package meals for the hungry and food-insecure in this country and abroad. These extraordinary events of giving and caring draw neighbors, youth organizations, congregations, work groups, memberships and communities into team building and spirit enriching exercises in which any one of any age or background can participate and extend love to those in need. Joining hands and hearts to feed children and their families in our communities and around our world.

3 Packed with Love Always Positive and FFCC volunteers are organized into small group assembly lines, preparing the meals from bins of ingredients. Six meals go into each 14 oz. clear, plastic bag. Currently, FFCC offers three nutritious meals - a rice-vegetable casserole; rice and beans; and pasta and cheese all fortified with soy protein, nutrients, and vitamins. To date, FFCC has packaged and distributed over 600,000 meals to families in need throughout San Diego County, Volunteers employ safety and hygienic precautions, including hairnets, gloves, and frequent applications of hand disinfectant. All of our meals are non-perishable, with an extended shelf life of two years, and require a boil point when cooked. 100,000 meals have been shipped and distributed in Japan, 800,000 meals have been shipped and distributed in Mexico, 1.3 million meals have been shipped and distributed in Haiti, The Joy of Giving Food packaging events are festivals of giving and caring that draw communities and neighborhoods together. They are also fun - often with DJs or live music, local celebrities, and entertainment as well as a vendor village with food, drink, gifts & handicraft markets. Most importantly, these Always Positive generated events are designed and branded to the city or host to bring people together and create a shared sense of community and caring by making a difference in the life of a hungry child or family across town or across an ocean. The energy of giving is contagious producing a joy with manifold returns. And 3.3 million meals have been shipped and distributed in Tanzania. Are you looking to be a part of something bigger?

4 Signed, Heat-Sealed & Delivered Each package has ingredient labelling and detailed cooking instructions. The packages are carefully heat-sealed to ensure imperishability of contents. Our volunteers then box the meals which are distributed by FFCC transport and distribution partners to neighborhood agencies and pantries in your local County, to foreign destinations where there is enduring need, such as Tanzania and Haiti, or to victims of famine or disaster anywhere in the world. Pay it Forward Always Positive and FFCC partner with scores of faith, service, civic organizations, schools, communities, and businesses in hosting packaging events to which hundreds, sometimes thousands of volunteers attend - donating money and an hour or two of their time. 500 volunteers can typically produce 50,000 meals. A thousand, will package 100,000 meals. Additionally, many of our partners such as schools host Fight Against Hunger Events as fund raisers for needed programs, while companies use these events to raise spirits and cement bonds through team building. Always Positive and FFCC plan and customize each packaging experience to meet the specific needs, goals, and budgets of its partners. We can all afford to give. The Friends and Family Connection has a number of community-based outreach programs to meet the needs of families and individuals in the local communities, while the Centre s 326,000 square foot, three-story, stateof-the-art facility provided the perfect venue for a tangible social network of sponsors, vendors and volunteers to make a positive impact in their local community and around the world.
