We will be serving from 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.. Cost is $7.00 per Ticket, and it Benefits Local Projects & Youth Activities. Remember to ask your neighbors and co-workers to Buy a ticket. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. We have made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go and need your help! Bring a Prospective Member /October 24, 2013 Members get involved for a number of reasons: To serve their community To be involved with a specific service or cause To be with friends To become a leader in the community To be with other family members who are members MORE VOLUNTEERS In More Places Than any other service club organization Just Ask!

Arrived Friday afternoon. The first night we rode by bus to the China Lake Museum of Armament and Technology where we ate dinner and toured the museum. They have created a lot of the missiles and bombs that have been used since WW2. They have 40 or 50 different missiles on display including many versions of the sidewinder which will be celebrating its 50th year. The tour was very interesting and we were able to see many different types and versions including a Tomahawk middle. Saturday they held their quarterly meeting which included a talk at lunch by the Vice Commander of China Lake Naval Center. That evening we went through a tour of the Indian Wells Brewing Company. Here we learned about the history of the artesian spring that furnishes the water for the brewery. They make 9 different types of beer. They also make and bottle 104 different types of soda. After an excellent dinner at the restaurant we returned and played bingo, however we did not win one game. Kent B. Christensen 1st VDG District 4-A1 Lions MEETING INFORMATION Lion Joe and Lion Daryl spoke of their time while traveling in the Azores. They enjoyed traveling with Joes family, and being able to see those sights off the beaten path.

Submit your favorite photo of our district s beautiful flora and/or fauna to your club before November 8th. Winning club entries must be brought to the meeting in Waterford. The club level winners will be displayed and judged at our district meeting on November 10th in Waterford. Categories and Rules are listed below. If you would like me to come to a meeting to discuss the photo contest I would be happy to do so. Hurry as time is short before entries are due!
