5 ABOUT LACLJ The mission of the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice (LACLJ) is to secure justice for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and empower them to create their own future. Since 1973, LACLJ has provided legal services to communities that face multiple barriers to accessing justice. The agency s vision is a strong community where families are safe, stable and free from injustice. SERVICES Domestic Violence - To protect the safety of survivors and their children, attorneys help survivors obtain restraining and custody orders. Sexual Assault - Attorneys help survivors navigate the criminal justice system and benefit from the full range of legal accommodations (such as the right to take time off work, move or change schools) afforded to them by the law. Immigration - Attorneys help survivors pursue immigration relief available to them as a result of cooperating in the criminal prosecution of the person who harmed them. Wrap-Around Supportive Services Social workers and interns assist survivors with safety planning and accessing other community resources. WHO WE SERVE 89% are Latino/Hispanic 82% are Women 81% are At or Below Poverty 77% are Parents of Minor Children 72% are Immigrants 21% are Youth or Young Adults IMPACT At the close of services, LACLJ clients overwhelmingly indicate they express less fear and depression, they have better relationships with their children, and are more closely connected to friends and family.
