The terms heard by newly installed members. What do they mean? Maybe a brief explanation will help with a smooth transition into who Lions are and what they do. Every organization has a chain of command and programs. The newly installed know that Lions SERVE and this is why they joined, to make a difference. Now for the terminology that immediately swirls around meeting attendance and social gatherings. What does it all mean? Mesa Host is a member of Multiple District 21C. DG District Governor; VDG Vice District Governor; PDG Past District Governor; IPP Immediate Past President; PCC Past Council Chair; CC Council Chair; ZC Zone Chair; IPDG, Immediate Past District Governor. Then there are names like Lions Camp Tatiyee, LFA, LCI, White Cane, Melvin Jones Memorial all of which are mind-boggling at first. Lions Camp Tatiyee, (Tah-ti-Yah), is a non- profit organization that is supported by the cooperative efforts of the Lions Clubs of Arizona District 21 thru donations and grants. The mission of Lions Camp Tatiyee is to provide a camping experience for challenged individuals among their peers that encourage, independence and self- confidence. Located in Lakeside, Arizona southeast of Show Low. LCI is Lions Clubs International home office. LFA-Lions Foundation of Arizona. Lions Vision Center, providing examinations and dispensing quality eye wear. Melvin Jones Lions International Memorial at Fort Thomas, AZ is dedicated to the founder of this great SERVICE organization. Lions Mobile Unit is used at health fairs, and for eye screening, including glaucoma and prescriptions at a minimal cost, where there is no ophthalmologist within 20 miles. Canyon State Lion is the member s monthly newspaper published by Lions Foundation of Arizona. The Lion Tamer is in charge & responsible for club property and paraphernalia. Lion Tail Twister promotes harmony, good fellowship, life & enthusiasm. LCIF Lions Clubs International Foundation helping with national disasters. Want more information about your District 21? In a nut shell and very brief, hope this will help with new member s assimilation into immediate terminology.

2 COMMUNITY SERVICES PROJECTS Update of donated eyeglasses, cell phones, hearing aids, and glass cases Have been added to present count and shown, is the new totals. DONATED GLASSES UPDATE COUNT 2,585 TOTAL GLASSES COLLECTED 11,226 CELL PHONES 83 HEARING AIDS 18 GLASSES CASES 2462 TOTAL FOR YEAR TO DATE 11,226 TREASURES 4 TEACHERS With the school budgets decreasing teachers do what they can to provide material and supplies out of their own pockets. They need help. We are going to try and help collect supplies for them. Some of the things they need on an ongoing basis are: ART SUPPLIES (MARKERS, PAINTS, BRUSHES, CANVAS) BOTTLE CAPS (ALL SIZES) BABY FOOD JARS BASKETS (WICKER, PLASTIC) CARDBOARD & PLASTIC TUBES (ALL SIZES BOOKS, MAGAZINES & MAPS CLEAN CONTAINERS ANY SIZE OATMEAL, COFFEE etc. CORKS, STRAWS, CUTLERY PAPER TOWEL & TOILET PAPER TUBES, & EGG CARTONS OFFICE SUPPLIES POSTCARDS, GREETING CARDS, CALENDARS WITH PICTURES REUSABLE BAGS (PAPER, CANVAS, PLASTIC) ANY KING OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES, PENCILS, PENS, MARKERS, CRAYONS etc. JEWELRY (BEADS, SEQUINS, GLITTER) CAN BE BROKEN PIECES. MAGNETS, MARBLES & MISC. IF YOU WANT TO CONTRIBUTE BUT CAN T MAKE IT TO THE MEETINGS, JUST COLLECT AND LET LION BARBARA OR LION BILL KNOW AND THEY WILL SEE THAT SOMEONE COMES AND PICKS IT UP. We are continuing to collect items for the teachers so be sure and save all the usable things you have around the house. In February we delivered a 24X36 box of recycled items for their classes. It contained plastic coffee containers, hard styrofoam, cards, small containers and egg cartons.

3 FOODBANK DONATIONS UPDATE COUNT Donated to the St. Vincent De Paul Memorial Kitchen canned or packaged food items each month in pounds. Grand total: 334 bottles of water and 167 pounds of food products. HYDRATION CAMPAIGN IPP Lion Bill Worbington continues putting together deliveries of water to the Salvation Army Hydration Campaign. Watch for store sales on water, so we can aid this campaign again this summer. SPEAKERS Speaker programs beginning in September. Sign up now. We need persons with information to aid our community service projects. Remember, the last Tuesday of the month is a business meeting, so no speakers. Remember we do purchase lunch for the speakers.

4 FUND RAISERS EASIEST FUND RAISER WE HAVE We now have 3 locations Mesa Lutheran Church S. Ellsworth, Mesa Gold Canyon Lutheran Church S. Kings Ranch Rd, Gold Canyon Mesa Senior Center on McDonald, Mesa Get your friends & neighbors to donate re-cycling papers & cardboard to these locations. Some of our members collect items from businesses. This is an easy fund raiser for us. Please get involved. GRANDPA S WHEEL S FUND RAISER PROJECT NEEDS VEHICLES Listen you may hear of someone talking about getting rid of one This is a fund raiser. Contact Lion Dave Webster if you know of one. WHITE CANE Jump on the bandwagon and volunteer a couple of hours. Contact Lion Bill or Lion Barbara for a List/ White Cane is one of our MAJOR fundraisers and we are down on members volunteering to take a couple of hours and collect a few $$ for the club so we can continue to aid those requesting Lions help.
