1 APR,MAY,JUNE 2014 COMMANDERS CORNER I WANT TO THANK ALL THE MEMBERS WHO CAME OUT TO HONOR OUR COMMANDER JAMES LYLE McPHERSON HE WILL BE SORELY MISSED. KEEP HIS WIFE EUNICE AND THE FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS. THE TURNOUT WAS A TRIBUTE TO A MAN WELL-DESERVED. AS SPRING IS NOW APPROACHING, WE NEED TO GET THE POST CLEANED UP WATCH FOR THE DATES ON THE EVENT CALENDAR. THE FISH FRIES HAVE STARTED, SO BRING YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS OUT TO EAT. WHERE ELSE CAN YOU GET A MEAL THIS GOOD FOR TEN DOLLARS. THIS IS ONE OF OUR LARGEST FUNDRAISERS OF THE YEAR. WE ARE 43 MEMBERS AWAY FROM MAKING 100%. IF YOU KNOW A MEMBER WHO HAS NOT PAID DUES FOR THIS YEAR, PLEASE ENCOURAGE THEM TO PAY. BUDDY POPPY DAYS ARE COMING IN MAY, AND WE WILL NEED LOTS OF VOLUNTEERS TO COVER OUR 4 LOCATIONS. SIGN UP IN THE CLUB ROOM. POST NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD AT THE APRIL MEET- ING, WITH INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS IN MAY. DON T FORGET MEMORIAL DAY IS ALSO COMING UP IN MAY, AS IS OUR CAR SHOW. I WANT TO THANK EACH AND EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT. WE ARE A FAMILY THAT STICKS TOGETHER. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. ODELL STUKES COMMANDER 1
2 FROM THE AUXILIARY PRESIDENT PEOPLE ARE SAYING SPRING HAS ARRIVED. IF IT HAS, WHERE IN THE DEVIL IS IT??? IN ANY CASE, IT S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN WHEN WE START GETTING OUTSIDE TO BARBEQUE, WORK IN THE YARD, GO BOATING ETC. ALL OF THOSE TOTALLY BORING THINGS THAT GO ALONG WITH NICE WEATHER. WITH SPRING COMES ELECTION TIME AGAIN. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HOLDING AN OFFICE OR ACCEPTING A CHAIRMANSHIP, PLEASE TRY TO AT- TEND OUR APRIL MEETING. I GUESS WITH ELECTIONS COMES THANK YOU TIME ALSO. THIS AUXILIARY HAS ACCOMPLISHED A LOT THIS YEAR, AND I CAN T BEGIN TO THANK ALL OF YOU ENOUGH. MICKEY WALLER DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB AS CANCER CHAIR THIS YEAR, WITH THE HOPE WAGON AND THE 50/50s; AND OF COURSE, DIANA STROER DID A PHENOMINAL JOB RAISING VETERANS SUI- CIDE AWARENESS, AND HOW ABOUT MELODY ROEBUCKS, WHO ORGANIZED ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL TRIVIA NIGHT. OUR KIDS CHRISTMAS PARTY WAS A BIG SUCCESS TRHANKS TO TINA PAGE, AND IF NOT FOR MARGE HOELTGE WE WOULD BE IN THE DARK ABOUT VETERANS ISSUES BEFORE CONGRESS. WE HAVE LADIES WHO GO TO THE THE VETERANS HOME AND NURSING HOME EVERY MONTH. WE DON T SEE THEM TOO OFTEN, BUT THEY ARE THERE! JUDY NORTHCUTT TAKES CARE OF VETERANS AND FAMILY SER- VICES, AND SHARON CRAWFORD IS OUR BUDDY POPPY CHAIR (THIS IS COM- ING UP IN MAY). AND, OF COURSE, HOW ABOUT PAT VOGEL (PATRIOT PEN CHAIR) AND THAT AWESOME AWARDS BANQUET? THIS NAMES JUST A FEW, BUT THERE ARE SO MANY MORE WHO ARE THERE WHEN CALLED UPON. THESE ARE THE LADIES WHO ARE A BIG PART OF THE BACKBONE OF THIS ORGANIZATION. IN ANY GOOD ORGANIZATION, THERE ARE THOSE WHO WORK AND THOSE WHO ORGANIZE. THEY ARE BOTH VITAL TO THE ORGAN- IZATION. I AM VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO SAY THAT WE HAVE MANY OF BOTH. THANK YOU LADIES! FOR HELPING EVERY TIME YOU WERE ASKED, FOR DOING GRUNT WORK WHEN ASKED, FOR BEING AT EVERY FUNERAL WHEN YOU WERE ASKED TO ATTEND, FOR HELPING WITH LUNCHEONS WHEN ASKED, FOR JUST BEING A PART OF THIS GREAT OR- GANIZATION, AND LETTING ME BE YOUR PRESIDENT. I AM HUMBLED TO BE PART OF ALL THIS, AND HOPE TO BE FOR A LONG TIME! SANDY BRACKMAN AUXILIARY PRESIDENT 2

6 BUDDY POPPY DAYS ARE ALMOST HERE EVERYONE, OUR ANNUAL BUDDY POPPY DAYS ARE SCHEDULED FOR MAY 15 TH,16 TH, AND 17 TH THIS YEAR. AS USUAL, THERE WILL BE A SIGN-UP SHEET IN THE CLUB ROOM. WITH 4 LOCATIONS (WALMART, DIERBERGS, AND BOTH SCHNUCKS) WE WILL NEED LOTS OF HELP TO COLLECT/DISTRIBUTE THE BUDDY POPPIES. LAST YEAR WE HAD A GOOD TURNOUT OF VOLUNTEERS, AND MANAGED TO COLLECT A LITTLE MORE THAN THE PREVIOUS YEAR. WE NEED TO CONTINUE THAT TREND, SINCE EVERYTHING THAT THE POST AND AUXILIARY DO COSTS MORE MONEY NOW. PLEASE BE GENEROUS WITH YOUR TIME. THE WEATHER IS USUALLY PRETTY GOOD, SO COME OUT AND HELP, EVEN IF IT S ONLY FOR AN HOUR. THE BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMEN THIS YEAR ARE SAM POOL AND SHARON CRAWFORD, SO IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT THEM.
