2 Between Friends Registration When? How? Wednesday, April 10, :00am Online: Phone: Registration at During phone registration, if the phone is ringing, please stay on the line to hold your place in the queue. If you get a busy tone, the lines are saturated so please hang up and call back to get into the queue. In Person: Between Friends office: Macleod Trail S. Registration You must be a current member to register for any programs. If expired, please make sure to renew your membership BEFORE registration day. Phone and walk-in registration will remain open weekdays, 9:00am - 4:00pm, and online registration is open 24 hours, until programs are full. Registration is complete only when the registrar confirms your request. Young adults and adults are limited to a maximum registration of two (2) Between Friends W.E.S.O.A.R! programs. Program Fees Fees for Between Friends W.E.S.O.A.R! programs are due at the time of registration. Cash, cheque, and credit card payments, or a fee assistance form must be submitted within five (5) business days or registration will be cancelled. 2 W.E.S.O.A.R! Summer Adult Programs 2019
3 Fee Assistance and Subsidy Between Friends does its best to ensure that every member with a wish to attend programs is granted the opportunity. In order to remain accessible, we subsidize all programs for all participants. In an effort to create awareness about the true cost of operating some Between Friends programs, please see the chart below. It is important to us that our programs remain financially accessible, to ensure those who want to participate can do so. Program Between Friends W.E.S.O.A.R! Summer Average True Cost to Between Friends $ Per Program Space Average Subsidized Fee Charged Subsidy Provided $ Per Program Space 75% Please Note: The true cost calculations include both the direct and indirect costs to Between Friends, including but not limited to: facility rentals, program supplies, transportation, staffing/payroll, insurance, personnel training, recognition, etc. To further ensure that programs are available to all, Between Friends offers the option to apply for additional fee assistance, and to arrange for payment plans. Fee assistance is available for two (2) programs per session. To apply, please register for your program(s) of choice over the phone, or in person, and indicate the need for fee assistance. Application forms will be provided and must be completed and returned to the main office within five (5) business days. For more information please contact Heather O Bray, Operations Assistant at Non Sufficient Funds (NSF) Policy A charge of $45.00 applies for NSF cheques. The issuer will be given 24 hours to make payment by VISA, MasterCard, money order, certified cheque, or cash; otherwise registration will be forfeited. Cancellation Policy To cancel registration you must call A 15% fee will apply to all cancellations. Cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the start of a program will forfeit a refund. Refunds will be provided only when vacancies can be filled, and the office is notified of the cancellation. If a program is cancelled due to low registration, you may transfer to another program if space is available, or receive a full refund. We will make every effort to contact you prior to the start date of the program if cancellation is necessary. 3
4 Adult Summer Programs: Ages 18+ Between Friends W.E.S.O.A.R! Summer programs run Monday to Thursday nights only. Due to the high volume of summer programming offered by Between Friends, there will be a cap on registration spots for these programs on registration night. Participants can register for a maximum of two Between Friends W.E.S.O.A.R! Summer programs. Summer Nights Join us as we get active, have fun, and enjoy the warm summer nights! Unwind with your friends and enjoy dinner at a restaurant, a theatre play, movie night, or maybe a potluck! Activities change each week. Please Note: General program locations change according to the day of the week. Monday $105 Mondays July 8 August 19 6:30pm 8:30pm Various locations in Central and South Calgary (Schedule provided one week prior to program start. No program on August 5) Tuesday $135 Tuesdays July 2 August 20 6:30pm 8:30pm Various locations Central and North Calgary (Schedule provided one week prior to program start) Wednesday $135 Wednesdays July 3 August 21 6:30pm 8:30pm Various locations in Central and South Calgary (Schedule provided one week prior to program start) Thursday $135 Thursdays July 4 August 22 6:30pm 8:30pm Various locations Central and North Calgary (Schedule provided one week prior to program start) 4 W.E.S.O.A.R! 5 Movie Nights Tuesday $140 Watch a movie with your pals! Whether you like action, comedy, or romance there s something for everyone. You ll catch two special movies this session in 3D or AVX. Tuesdays July 2 August 20 6:00pm 9:00pm (times may vary due to showtimes) Cineplex Odeon Westhills Cinemas 165 Stewart Green SW Rec Swim $125 Make a splash in the warm and relaxing pool at Vecova! Swim programs focus on having fun. Please Note: Swim lessons are not provided. Wednesdays July 3 August 21 6:30pm 8:30pm Vecova St NW Active Adults $135 Get fit this summer! Everyone could use a weekly workout with friends! Each week we ll go to a new facility and maybe even do some workouts in the park! Active Adults focuses on having fun and feeling fit. Swim and fitness sessions alternate each week. Please Note: Swim and fitness lessons are not provided. Thursdays July 4 August 22 6:30pm 8:30pm Various Fitness Centres around Calgary (Schedule provided one week prior to program start) Active Adults crushing it at the gym! 5
6 Volunteer With Us We are always looking for volunteers for our Between Friends W.E.S.O.A.R! programs. Whether you want to spend a day at the zoo with our kids, participate in weekly yoga with our teens, shoot some pool at a pub with our young adults, or catch the latest movies with our adults, we have many programs that will interest you! As a Between Friends W.E.S.O.A.R! Volunteer, you will be assisting the Program Leader in facilitating weekly program activities as well as encouraging our participants to engage and have fun. We require a weekly commitment of 2-3 hours for up to 10 weeks. Making lasting friendships at Between Friends. For more information on volunteering contact: Emily Furber efurber@betweenfriends.ab.ca A community service volunteer group for adults with disabilities. Aktion Club YYC members develop initiative and leadership skills, give back to their community, integrate into society, and gain new experiences. In partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Calgary Northmount, Aktion Club YYC provides opportunities for adults with disabilities to demonstrate the dignity and value of citizens living with disabilities. Aktion Club YYC hosts one meeting each month on a Monday night from 6:30pm 8:30pm. During these meetings, Aktion Club YYC members discuss upcoming volunteer initiatives, discuss fundraising efforts, explore new opportunities, and come up with social activity ideas. Usually, there are two volunteer initiatives each month, that typically take place on Saturday or Monday nights. A social event is held quarterly to celebrate their accomplishments during a fun night out! New members and volunteers to support the members are always welcome.
