1 2014 ANNUAL REPORT Dear Friends, This past year has been very transformative and exciting for United Way and our community. The second annual Community Colors 5k saw recording-breaking attendance, in spite of some early-morning weather challenges. Nearly 2,200 racers had a blast as they learned about the needs in Midland County and were inspired to lend their support. We then set out to meet our campaign goal of $4,900,000. Generous support came from every corner of the community, including more than 10,000 donors and 200 local corporations and businesses. Our generous community rallied to not just meet, but exceed the campaign goal, raising an impressive $4,915,186. During this year s Wrap Up Celebration a brave and creative group of supporters unveiled an entertaining United Way Rap to announce the final campaign results. United Way invested hundreds of hours listening to our community to discover what is important to them, where they want to go, and why. This important work serves as the foundation of our community impact work and has been instrumental in developing our community-level goals and building a shared purpose. United Way is an excellent steward of your donations. We continue to ensure that over 90% of your donations go back into the community to impact lives. This year we will focus on aligning the programs we invest in with our community-level goals and continue to work collaboratively to ensure the most pressing needs of our community are met. Senior Services...$90,000 Provides programs to individuals over 60 to achieve independence, quality of life and dignity. Ten16 Recovery Network...$160,000 Residential and outpatient treatment center that empowers, educates and supports those impacted by addictive or compulsive behavior. West Midland Family Center...$128,695 Supports programs that reduce the stress associated with parenting, reduce obesity and promote fitness. OUR RESULTS GIVE. ADVOCATE. VOLUNTEER. The second annual Community Colors 5k brought more than 2,500 people together to celebrate our campaign kick off. Our community came together to raise $4,915,186 to meet the needs in Midland County. Over $35,000 of in-kind donations offset the cost of our campaign materials. Our generous community fulfilled 8,731 Sharing Tree wishes, valued at $320,975. 1,459 Leadership Circle donors invested $2,091,353, including 86 Tocqueville members who contributed $579,855. The FamilyWize Prescription Drug Discount Program saved families in our community over $100,000. Facebook likes grew by 210, with more than 1,100 people connecting with up-to-the-minute happenings. Over 35,000 volunteer hours were provided by 4,427 dedicated community members. Over 1,900 users were registered on GoVOLUNTEERnow.org and viewed 225 unique opportunities to volunteer. Community Impact volunteers devoted nearly 1,500 hours to ensure our community s investment has the greatest impact. LIVE UNITED. 5
