#TEAM45 Fundraising Guide
Action Against Hunger USA One Whitehall Street, 2nd Floor New York, NY WELCOME TO #TEAM45! Thank you for joining the team. Your commitment to Action Against Hunger is helping to put an end to world hunger and save lives. We can t thank you enough for your support! As a #Team45 member, you re taking action to help us reach even more people and make an even bigger impact. Why does our work matter? Our global network serves 14.7 million people in nearly 50 countries. With your help, we can reach even more people in need. For almost 40 years, we have led the global fight against hunger. We save the lives of malnourished children and their families. We are there for them before and after disaster strikes. We enable people to provide for themselves, see their children grow up strong, and for whole communities to prosper. We constantly search for more effective solutions, while sharing our knowledge and expertise with the world. We push for longterm change. We will never give up. Until the world is free from hunger. Our global efforts save hundreds of thousands of lives each year, but millions of undernourished children remain in need of lifesaving treatment. With your help, we can extend our reach. Thank you for your commitment to Team 45! Sincerely, Nicole Shaia Donor Engagement Manager nshaia@actionagainsthunger.org Action Against Hunger
FUNDRAISING TIPS Your Guide to Success 1 CHOOSE YOUR CAMPAIGN FOCUS & TIME FRAME Consider why you are joining #Team45 and what has inspired you to take action. Get creative and choose a campaign idea that you re excited about. Are you hosting an event, doing an activity, or sharing your inspiration for being a hunger fighter? Next, set a reasonable time frame and dollar goal. Achievable targets will keep you and your supporters motivated to the end! 2 SHARE YOUR STORY Are you doing something fun or exciting? Tell us and everyone you know by personalizing your fundraising page! Use the story tab of your fundraising page to share your story with photos, videos, or content. You can keep the default settings already on your page if you prefer. Don't be afraid to promote your campaign. You're saving lives so make some noise!
3 START THE GIVING Kickoff your campaign with a personal gift. Setting an example is the best way to lead your campaign to success. We ve found that people are more likely to donate and support you after you ve made a personal gift. 4 BUILD YOUR AUDIENCE You are doing something amazing! Share it with your friends and family and ask them to support you. Send personal s, post on social media, and text or call your closest contacts. See the next page for message templates. 5 SHOW YOUR GRATITUDE Thank your supporters, and then thank them some more! Send an , text them, call them, or post a message on Twitter or Facebook, whichever works best for you! Once you hit your goal, share your success and celebrate. Gratitude is what makes people feel really great about giving. DONATE YOUR BIRTHDAY LIKE ELIZABETH Elizabeth donated her 9th birthday, asking for donations instead of gifts. She raised over $1,000 and helped us reach 22 children with lifesaving care.
TEMPLATE Start out by making a list of people in your network of family, friends, and colleagues that you can easily and ask for their support. Be sure to include a link to your fundraising page. Here is a sample of an that you can edit. If you are hosting an event or doing something unique to raise funds, be sure to include that too! Subject: Help me save lives with Action Against Hunger Hi (Name), I ve just started a personal campaign to help save lives with Action Against Hunger. Why did I join? It s simple. Undernutrition is now the greatest threat to child survival worldwide. 45% of all child deaths are from causes related to undernutrition. And with Action Against Hunger, every $45 I raise is enough to save a young child s life. Together, we could have a huge lifesaving impact! Action Against Hunger ensures everyone has access to clean water, food, training and healthcare. They enable entire communities to be free from hunger. In the past year, Action Against Hunger's global network served 14.7 million people in nearly 50 countries. Additionally, their emergency teams are on the ground, racing against time to prevent famine and save lives in South Sudan, Nigeria, Somalia, and Yemen. With your help, we can make an impact and help their teams reach even more people in need. Please consider making a donation of $X by visiting my campaign page: (insert your fundraising page link here). Thank you for helping save lives! Send follow up s with progress reports!
SHARE VIA SOCIAL Share one of our images or videos to explain why we re taking action with #Team45. Be sure to include the link to your fundraising page and ask for a specific amount in support of your efforts. Find us on: Here is an example social media post: I ve just joined #Team45 to help fight hunger and save lives! Why Team 45? Because $45 can help save a child s life. Please support me by making a donation on my fundraising page (insert fundraising page link). SHARE OUR VIDEOS Thank every donor personally. Gratitude is what makes people feel really great about giving.

OUR PROGRAMS Nutrition and Health: Action Against Hunger s methods for identifying and rescuing populations afflicted with acute malnutrition are internationally renowned, having pioneered revolutionary nutrition products and field tested treatment protocols that have become industry standards. Our programs are launched most often during times of crisis and focus on the most vulnerable, including young children and women who are pregnant or nursing. Water, Sanitation & Hygiene: Every day 1,000 children die from illnesses like diarrhea, dysentery, and cholera caused by dirty water and unhygienic living conditions. As part of our integrated approach to hunger, we re getting safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services to communities in need all over the world. Food Security & Livelihoods: We engage local communities to determine what is causing hunger, and then create a plan to provide the tools, capital, and training to put people on the road to self-sufficiency. Our programs bolster agricultural production, jumpstart local market activity, support micro-enterprise initiatives, and otherwise enhance a vulnerable community s access to sustainable sources of food and income. Emergency Response: From cholera epidemics sweeping through refugee camps, to catastrophic natural disasters, to spikes in malnutrition rates brought on by drought, Action Against Hunger responds to humanitarian emergencies all over the world, delivering immediate lifesaving services to populations in distress.
