1 ROTA Job Description Project Manager Purpose: The Project Manager will lead on the overall logistics of the project including all monitoring and evaluation and the production of a project toolkit. The Project Manager will be tasked with the coordination across each of the three project locations, arranging training and brokerage of free training, coordinating activities and engaging and brokering dialogue with GP commissions, arranging health awareness sessions, communicating with Health and Well-being boards and NHS staff. The Project Manager will also manage volunteers and the directly funded work of project outreach officers. Salary Grade: NJC salary scale PO1-33, 31,148 (fixed term one year contract) Conditions: Non-contributory pension of 5% (after six consecutive months); 26 days annual leave; 37.5 hour week. Responsible to: The Chief Executive and through the Chief Executive the Board. Responsible for: Local project officers and Volunteers. Key Tasks: 1. Policy 2. Project Management 3. General 1. To use the findings of the project to inform ROTA's health policy priority as agreed with the Chief Executive To ensure liaison occurs with partner organisations and other relevant front-line BAME third sector organisations to obtain information on the issues within ROTA's health policy priority To monitor health policy locally, regionally and nationally that may have an influence on the BAME third sector and BAME communities.

To analyse and interpret legislative changes pertinent to health that may have an influence on the BAME third sector and BAME communities To represent ROTA and its partners by sharing the findings of the project by attending and speaking at events, sitting on decision making bodies and contributing to ROTA s newsletter. 2. Project Management 2.1. To undertake management and coordination of project partners performance by regularly collecting and appraising monitoring data To regularly coordinate project steering group meetings to ensure the project is on track To oversee the work of volunteers providing supervision and support on tasks To arrange and broker training and stakeholder meetings to meet the project objectives as agreed with partner organisations To oversee and manage the research evaluation of the project with project partners and the research organisation To fulfil the necessary monitoring and evaluation requirements of the funder. 3. General 3.1. 3 ROTA Person Specification Project Manager Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria. General: 1. A strong personal commitment to racial equality and equality of opportunity. 2. Knowledge and understanding of the nature of discrimination faced by Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups. Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and Experience: 3. At least two years experience of project management in a field of social policy. 4. At least two years experience of writing clear and concise reports, articles and briefings for a range of audiences. 5. Demonstrable experience of facilitating meetings, running workshops and giving presentations to a range of audiences, including at a senior level. 6. Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of health policy issues affecting BAME communities. 7. Experience of communicating, liaising, influencing and working in partnership with people at a senior level in the third, statutory and private sectors. 8. Demonstrable experience of analysing and disseminating government social policy initiatives. 9. Experience of using word processing including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Word. 10. Ability to plan, prioritise own work and some experience of managing budgets. 11. Ability to travel frequently within London with a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.

4 Job Information Sheet This job information sheet should be read in conjunction with the Project Manager Job description and person specification. About ROTA Race on the Agenda (ROTA) is a social action organisation which aims to reduce racial inequality by working with those communities who are directly impacted by it. ROTA has almost 30 years experience working to improve outcomes for Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities. All of ROTA s activities involve working closely with BAME communities and individuals to build their capability, particularly in the areas of health, education and criminal justice. Each activity involves a mobilising feature and regularly includes a package of support such as: community-led research, building awareness, increasing organisational capacity and influencing skills through training or intense and person-centred projects. Background to Project: In March 2012, ROTA and its partner organisations were awarded funding to carry out a three year project, Healthy, Mobilised and BAME. The overall aim of Healthy, Mobilised and BAME is to improve the mental health and well-being of BAME people with poor mental health in socio-economically deprived areas by making service-users more active and involved in their communities. Healthy, Mobilised and BAME works from a base point whereby service users are engaged and aware of mental health issues in year one, to building skills and development through year one, two and three to a position where they are more content with their life from their perspective. There are several specific aims which underpin the overall aim of Healthy, Mobilised and BAME. These include: Increasing the levels of independence of service-users by offering appropriate skill provision to reduce levels of social isolation. Enabling service-users to improve their mental health by being engaged in defining their road to better mental health. To increase the skills of service-users so they can participate in shaping the delivery of mental health services. To increase the confidence of BAME people with poor mental health to access mental health services. Healthy, Mobilised and BAME not only aims to reduce the isolation BAME people have from social opportunities but also from services which can improve their mental health and help reduce stress.

5 ROTA will be working closely with the Tamil Community Centre (TCC), Helplink and Jan Trust to deliver this project. Each of the partner organisations work in empowering disadvantaged communities and specialise in the provision of services to BAME communities including for example, immigration and asylum advice or creating social opportunities to mitigate issues of isolation; depression, racism and discrimination, family breakdown and a lack of family support and structure. Below are the four funded outcomes of Health, Mobilised and BAME: Outcome BAME mental health service-users have improved practical life skills to be more independent and less isolated. Outcome 2 50 BAME mental health service-users have improved mental health and have taken positive steps towards recovery. Outcome 3 80 BAME mental health service-users have improved communication skills and capability to shape the delivery of mental health services. Outcome BAME community members with poor mental health have increased confidence and reduced fear to access statutory mental health services.
