Volunteer Positions Please place a next to the position in which you are interested, or number multiple positions by preference. Childcare/Tutor Assist children of all ages inside the shelter with afterschool homework and completion of assignments; may also assist Children s Advocate with children s activities and childcare during support groups. Must have a background in working with children and/or child development and you must be patient, friendly, positive and able to work with children of diverse backgrounds. This position is 2-10 hours a week and may involve some evening hours. Shelter Volunteers working in the shelter setting assist with organizing donations, the food pantry, general upkeep of the facility, sanitizing toys, etc. Must be organized, detail oriented, flexible and have great communication skills. This position is 3-6 hours a week.

2 Facilities/Maintenance Assist facility staff in maintaining a clean and organized office/shelter, assist in carrying out maintenance projects and/or light landscaping or cleanup projects. This is on an as needed basis. Special Service/Project This is reserved for anyone interested in providing a specific service during their volunteer hours. Examples include yoga, haircuts, yard work, etc. Please describe the service you would like to provide:. Child/Youth Advocate Intern Support Child/Youth Advocacy staff in the following ways: - Provide support for the needs of youth that have experienced violence at home. - Provide child care/recreation for children while mothers attend support groups, doctors and legal appointments, prepare for and attend court hearings, apply for assistance, etc. - Assist with support groups for children and parent education groups for mothers. - Create and carry out activities with children of all ages. - Tutor children residing in shelter. - Must be energetic, patient, positive, tolerant, and have a background in or are currently pursuing an education/career in a child/adolescent related field. Shelter Advocate Intern Support Shelter Advocacy staff in the following ways: - Provide support for the needs of women residing in shelter that have experienced abuse. - Assist in answering phone calls on our crisis line - Support Shelter Advocates as they facilitate women s groups and participate in meetings - Assist shelter residents in accessing county and community based services and support - Develop and implement educational materials and presentations relevant to the needs and experiences of shelter residents. - Must be professional, open minded, friendly, flexible, have strong personal and professional boundaries, and excellent communication skills Outreach Advocate Intern Support Outreach Advocacy staff in the following ways: - Provide support, information and referrals to survivors living in outreach communities - Attend court proceedings. - Create and distribute packets of information to community providers. - Assist with outreach programs and prevention education. - Attend taskforce meetings as necessary. - Must be professional, open minded, friendly, organized, have strong personal and professional boundaries, excellent communication skills, and be able to work alone and in groups.

3 All volunteer and intern roles may at times include (but are not limited to) supporting CADA staff in the following ways: - Assist with CADA s quarterly newsletter and other mailings - Organizing and maintaining donations and donation rooms - Assist with fundraising events - Assist shelter staff with cleaning and upkeep of the shelter and its equipment - Working on awareness campaigns We have offices located in Waseca, New Ulm, St. James, and Blue Earth.
