2 Join the Movement! Thank you for your interest in the Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure in Toledo on Sunday, September 30, 2018! This event, and it s sister Race in Findlay, are celebrations of life, as well as a memorial to those who have lost the fight to breast cancer. Most importantly, the Races are the primary ways we raise the money necessary to save lives in our community and to fund research. We re asking you to #JoinTheMovement to end breast cancer forever. We ve set a bold national goal to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths in the United States by 50 percent in the next decade. Here s how you can help achieve that goal: Make sure everyone participating with you on Race day is registered for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Toledo and has paid the entry fee. Fundraise - Only 9% of our race participants fundraise. If those who are not fundraising committed to donate or raise an additional $100, we would add another $1 million. Imagine the impact of that money on our community. About Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio We are a nonprofit 50l(c)3 organization managed by a local governing Board of Directors that is committed to changing the face of breast cancer in our service area. Of the money we raise, 75% stays here to fund local programs that provide life-saving breast health and breast cancer services, and 25% funds breast cancer research. Registration Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure in Toledo Sunday, September 30, 2018 Adult (19+): $30 Survivor (19+) $25 Youth Registration (5-18): $20 Virtual Participant: $30 Registration packet includes: Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio Race T-shirt, Race Day program, and Race bib. Survivors will receive a pink survivor shirt. Timing Chips are available for an additional cost of $2.00. Please ensure all members of your team register and pay the entry fee. Every registration helps provide care and services for breast cancer patients in need. Virtual Participant Is there someone who can t make it on Race day, but still wants to participate? Register as a virtual participant! All virtual participants receive a Race for the Cure T-Shirt and a Race bib, just in case! Participants can still join your team and be counted in the numbers and are eligible for prizes. Kids Zone Bring your little Racers to Fifth Third Field for snacks plus activities provided by Imagination Station. 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. Kids Dash Kids ages 5-10, who are registered for the Race in Toledo as Youths can participate in the Kids Dash before the Race and receive a Komen prize! FORMING A RACE FOR THE CURE TEAM IS EASY! 1. Visit us online at 2. Click the Events tab. 3. Choose Toledo Race. 4. Click Register. 5. Select Start or re-form a Team. 6. Give your team a name. 7. Proceed to complete registration.

4 Team Captain Checklist WHAT TO DO Send an out to friends and family to join your team! Hold a fundraising event and be sure to post on social media! Remember a team T-shirt does not validate your Race entry. WHEN NOW! Everyone receives free shipping for Race packets (T-shirt, race bib, and race day information) until August 3! After this date, packets will be mailed for a cost of $8 per packet. Aug. 3 DEADLINE: Paper registration must be postmarked in order to have packet mailed. Sept. 7 Last day to register online and get packet mailed. Online registration continues; however, packets must be picked up at one of our pick up locations or on Race Day. Sept. 14 Final day for participants to register 4pm. Sept. 29 Toledo Race 9:30am. Sept. 30 Note: Largest teams will be awarded in October so we can count your last-minute team members! October Final day to turn in any fundraising money to be counted towards team goals. Must be postmarked or brought in by this date. 6 Company Support Matching Gifts Make your donations go twice as far by registering in your employer s matching funds program. File the forms with your employer and submit copies to the Komen Northwest Ohio Office! Corporate Sponsorship of Registration Fees Many companies will pay for employees registration fees. We make this process easy by setting up an online corporate code for employees and submitting an invoice to your employer after registration closes. Contact the Komen Northwest Ohio office for details. A matching form and your company s matching gift must be received by Oct. 31 in order to be counted towards fundraising totals. The Promise It all started when Nancy G. Brinker promised to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise between two sisters became the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Outside of the United States government, Komen is the world s largest source of non-profit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer with nearly $3 billion invested to date.
