Larsen Award (36,000) Principal Investigator: Two Year Follow-up Study of Mothers with Co-Occurring Disorders and Violence. SAMHSA Principal Investigator. Children of Women with Co-Occurring Disorders and Violence Exposure. SAMHSA (Department of Health and Human Services -- Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) ($350,000). This study is part of a larger study (see description below) seeking to generate knowledge about the effectiveness of trauma informed, culturally relevant and age specific intervention service models for children of women with co-occurring disorders and a history of violence

3 Co Investigator. Women with Co-Occurring Disorders and Violence Exposure. SAMHSA ($1,000,000). A Multi-model intervention evaluation study of women with ADM disorders (alcohol, drug abuse and mental heath) and who have been victims of violence disorders. The study seeks to generate and apply empirical knowledge about the development of a comprehensive, integrated services approach and the effectiveness of this approach for the target population. A quasi-experimental comparison group with interviews at baseline, 6months and 12 months will be utilized Principal Investigator. The team evaluated problems of children such as autism, learning disabilities, physical handicaps, mental retardation, and behavioral and emotional disturbances. Duties included admission screening, diagnostic assessment, parent training, consultation and education with schools and other agencies, referrals to appropriate services in home communities, and follow up. Provided training to DCFS workers on domestic violence. The focus of the training was helping workers identify and intervene appropriately in situations where child abuse and spousal abuse co-occurs.
