3 About Down Syndrome South Australia Down Syndrome SA is a state-wide service established in 1974 a not for profit, membership-based service. We support people with Down, their families and carers by offering a broad range of services, from Early Intervention and Family Support, through to preschool and school support to post-secondary Life Education, vital leisure and recreation and respite programs and training and development for education and allied health professionals. We provide people with Down the opportunity and support to lead a full and happy life, integrated within the community at work and play. Learning 4 All: 34 professional development workshops for teachers, carers, childcare professionals. Down Syndrome SA is supported by 15 staff members who go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that people with Down receive the best possible access to a full life. The volunteer board dedicates their time and skills to ensure the long term visions of DSSA are met, and are represented by corporate members and three membership elected parent members. In addition an engaged, enthusiastic volunteer base enriches our programs and services and the opportunity for people with Down to live an ordinary life. We are proud to have His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO, Governor of South Australia as our Patron.
