1 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE The temperature is changing, leaves are falling and the Holiday Season is fast approaching! We've got a lot to be grateful for here in North Texas and I am privileged to be a part of this great organization. is December 13 th. We had an outstanding tour at Ericsson earlier in November coordinated by our board member Charles Early and we really appreciate his efforts! For those of you who couldn t make it, we will have more in store, so stay tuned. The Scottish Rite Tree Lighting Ceremony is coming up December 1 st and the Dallas Marathon Water Station volunteer opportunity It's been a great year and I'm proud of what we accomplished together. Thanks to you we'll be going into the new year with continued strength, to build on our accomplishments and to continue to grow in the new year. Please, take time out for yourself and loved ones as the best of all gifts around the Holiday Season is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other in kindness and joy. And that's what I wish for you all! Glen Fullerton President, NTX APICS Congratulations to all North Texas Chapter s members and customers! North Texas Chapter has achieved the APICS Chapter Benchmarking and Reporting (C-BAR) Platinum award level. It demonstrates our chapter s dedication to providing exemplary member services and professional development opportunities to APICS members and customers. The Chapter Benchmarking and Reporting (C-BAR) program was created by APICS volunteers, to recognize chapters that go beyond the minimum required standards, to provide exemplary service to their members and customers. Adherence to the guidelines established in C-BAR and the Channel Partner agreement, ensures the growth, development, and value-added continuous improvements of APICS chapters by evaluating each chapter against a set of criteria that has a direct and positive impact on chapter performance Midway Rd, Ste , Dallas, TX info@ntxapics.org Page 1
2 Scottish Rite Tree Lighting Ceremony and Decorating Sandra Eutsler Tuesday, December 1 st, 2015 Arrive 5:00 PM Program 5:30 PM Decorate 6:00 PM Dinner is offered during and after decorating On Tuesday, December 1st, North Texas APICS will participate in decorating Christmas trees at the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Come lend a hand as we create the Christmas season for the children and their families! Together we can help make the holidays extraordinary for the kids at the hospital. Some of the children at the Scottish Rite are in the hospital for long periods of time, and the experience we can give them is inspiring and magical. We feel grateful to have participated in this event for over 15 years and counting. Our group sponsors and trims one tree in the motion lab. Volunteers from our group congregate in the main foyer of the hospital for the opening ceremony and tree lighting event; afterwards we begin decorating. Decorating takes about 30 minutes. There will be an old fashioned band playing Christmas music, and popcorn and soft drinks will be offered during the ceremony. After decorating is done, some of us take the opportunity to stroll through the hospital to see the trees decorated by other groups (optional). A meal is proudly served by volunteers after the tree decorating. So come join in on the fun, and make the holidays exceptional for some very special kids and their families Midway Rd, Ste , Dallas, TX info@ntxapics.org Page 2
3 Dallas Marathon water/aid station volunteer opportunity Once again NTXAPICS is graciously sponsoring our water aid station for the Dallas Marathon. This is an excellent opportunity to volunteer, spend time with old friends and meet new ones. There will be breakfast and lunch for all the volunteers. We will also have our long time DJ (Mark Hess) there to keep us rocking and rolling. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) is the primary beneficiary of the Dallas Marathon. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is a world leader in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions. TSRHC treats Texas children with orthopedic conditions, such as scoliosis, clubfoot, hand disorders, hip disorders and limb length differences, as well as certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. Patients receive treatment regardless of the family s ability to pay. Please consider volunteering for this event. This is open to all ages (kids, students, adults) and does count towards volunteer hours if needed for National Honor Society (NHS). The marathon is on December 13th and held rain or shine. Please register ASAP and confirm desired t-shirt size. Register at Midway Rd, Ste , Dallas, TX info@ntxapics.org Page 3
4 Ericsson Plant Tour Review December 2015 Newsletter Yidai Chen We were lucky to have such an amazing plant tour with Ericsson on November 5, There were 20 participants who participated in this plant tour. During the two-hour plant tour, we received a warm welcome and learned a lot about Ericsson. Ericsson is a world leader in the rapidly changing environment of communications technology providing equipment, software and services to enable transformation through mobility. The leadership in technology and services has been a driving force behind the expansion and improvement of connectivity worldwide. The focus of this plant tour was Demos TBD overview of E/// solutions (everywhere now). This tour explored our daily life in an all connected world. With everything connected, Ericsson s devices deliver a new level of service and convenience wherever life takes us. The demonstration explains many of the 10 Hot Consumer Trends for 2015 and how they are related to Ericsson s offerings. The plant tour began with a brief introduction of Ericsson by our host Charles Early, which helped us know more about Ericsson. Then we headed to the Experience Room to have a close and fun experience of Ericsson s offerings. We had great interactions with the speakers. The speakers provided us with great answers when we asked questions. Through this event, we were able to have a deeper look into the atmosphere and culture of Ericsson. This event was very effective and interesting and we really appreciated this opportunity given by Ericsson. Want to be a Company Coordinator?
