Objective #1a: NEC, Regions, and Chapters distribute information emphasizing BIG s advocacy programs via the internet and other media. This emphasis should be done on a quarterly basis. The advocacy programs are on Appendix(SWOT) Strengths of this plan. Periodic s sent to BIG members and government staff located in 5 Federal buildings regarding BIG programs and events Ongoing Antionette Hall, Corresponding Secretary Greater interest of national BIG programs from nonmembers 2
3 GOAL 2: Eliminate practices of racism and racial discrimination against Blacks in government at the federal, state, and local levels. The BIG programs to address this goal are on Appendix A (SWOT) Strengths of this Plan. Objective #2a: Region and chapter EEO Chairs report to the NEC AE/EEO Chair of the effectiveness of the programs on SWOT Strengths. Attendance at union meetings to address practices and observations of racial discrimination against Blacks in federal government to union officials and to provide information to BIG members 2017 Monthly Scheduled meetings with union officers, Lunch and Learns President and Jaime Brown, NKHC AE/EEO Committee Chair Over 50% of the chapter membership have joined the local union and are more open to share their comments to the union, supervisory management, Office of Civil Rights and BIG chapter officers. Conducted training session on Public Speaking with Congressional Representatives to union members November 2017 PowerPoint presentation Increased awareness of BIG and its benefits of becoming a Hosted national theme month programs that promoted greater awareness of African Americans who work for the government i.e. Black History Month, Juneteenth, Administrative Professionals Day February 2018/April 2018/June 2018 Decorated military staff as panel speakers for February and recognition of African Americans who serve in administrative support positions Vince Saunders, NKHC Coordinator, Black History Month Program Jaime Brown, NKHC Coordinator, Juneteenth Program member Increased awareness of BIG and its benefits of becoming a member 4
5 Objective #1c: Chapters aggressively recruit former members of their chapters via one-on-one contact, , and other media. Former members are invited to NKHC programs and events Frequently s Antionette Hall, Corresponding Secretary Former members will often invite nonmembers to attend NKHC events with them Objective #1d: Chapters recruit from current and previous at-large membership listings. Objective #1e: Chapters recruit from current and previous at-large membership listings. GOAL 2: Retention. Objective #2a: Retain membership numbers at a rate of 90% per year. 6 Objective #2b: Chapters and regions become more visible and sponsor projects and programs in their respective areas that are in line with BIG's vision and goals. 7 GOAL 3: Benefit To The Members. Objective #3a: Clearly identify the benefits to current and potential members of BIG. Hosted anniversary event that April s, facilitator for recognized the accomplishments strategic planning and benefits of the organization discussion Kevin Hill, NKHC Coordinator Tywanna Greene, NKHC Treasurer Objective #3b: NEC (Evaluation and Membership Committees) create and provide a survey to all regions to distribute among their respective chapters seeking feedback from current members and potential members in reference to the benefits they want from BIG. National and regions should establish a deadline for the members and potential members to respond and report their inputs. If desired by the Board, other surveys can be done in 2016 and Objective #3c: BIG National President and Executive Committee report on the results of the survey; establish a plan of action; and report the status to the Board on a quarterly basis addressing the question "How would it benefit me by joining BIG? 7
