Cannabinoid Medical Clinic Canada s Largest Referral-Only Clinic September Physician Newsletter September 2016 Upcoming Events September 21 st September 22 nd -24 th October 1 st & 2 nd October 14 th CME- Moncton NP Association of Ontario Conference- Toronto Live the Smart Way Expo- Calgary Atlantic Pain Conference- Halifax Message from Dr. Schecter These are very exciting times for cannabinoid medicine. There is a tremendous amount of research that we are engaging in, which is looking into the role of the endocannabinoid system across a wide range of conditions. As clinicians, we see the very important work we are doing on a daily basis. This is evidenced by the stories that we hear from our patients. At least once daily, I will see a patient in follow up crying because their quality of life has drastically improved beyond anything they could have imagined. We have been growing at a very fast pace, and we are the only national clinic that specializes in cannabinoid medicine and looks at cannabinoids as a therapeutic class. This is why we have received accolades not only from our peers, but also from the various colleges of physicians and surgeons across Canada. To ensure that we continue to provide excellent clinical care, we strongly believe in ongoing medical education. In the coming weeks, we will be sending out information about a "virtual journal club" for CMClinic physicians, which will allow us to review and share articles, advances, practice tips, and experience in cannabinoid medicine. I would like to ask each of our physicians to note any particularly interesting cases you have seen and send this information to myself so that we can submit these as "case studies" to pertinent journals. This is an excellent opportunity to disseminate knowledge surrounding the important work that you do on a daily basis. Danial Schecter, Medical Director Dr. Schecter is the Medical Director and Co-Founder of CMC. He is a recognized medical expert in the field of Medical Marijuana and has done extensive research in the area of therapeutic cannabinoids.
Earn $1,500 by Referring Just One Physician New partnership consists of a new consultation role for our physicians As we head into fall, we thought it would be a great time for an update. Thank you to all of our physicians and support staff for their continued support and hard work in getting our patient numbers up to their highest levels in our history over the last two months. Let's keep the momentum going! Our continued growth is reflected by our new clinics. CMC Calgary is now up and running with our Moncton, NB and Kingston, ON clinics not far behind. We have plans for upwards of six new clinics by the end of CMClinics relentless commitment to patient care has garnered a new partnership with Rapid Interactive Disability Management Group. This partnership consists of a new consultation role for our physicians and will only further enhance our standing in the medical community as the top Medical Marijuana clinic in Canada. Cannabinoid Medical Clinics is also looking for a few new doctors to add to our team, and in doing so we are starting a new Physician Referral Program. This will consist of $1,500 to every physician who recommends a new physician for employment with CMC. Please contact John Philpott should you have any colleagues you feel might be a good fit for our clinic and for further details on the conditions of the referral offer. We are all very proud and excited about where CMC is headed in the next few months and are thankful for your continued support! 2
How Scheduling Affects Patient Satisfaction The more patients we provide with the highest standard of care means the more return patients we will have, improving patient care and satisfaction. As a patient driven business, we would like to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of having a schedule that reflects the next few months. The more patients we are able to schedule, means the more return patients we will have, thereby improving patient care and satisfaction. We should be working on a minimum three-month schedule for all physicians. This will allow our corporate office to better create and execute our business strategies to help this company grow into the country s leading Medical Marijuana clinic. I am asking that you take a moment to look at your calendar and plan for the next few months what your schedule might look like. Providing us with a few dates each week does not mean that you would be locked into those dates, as we all know that things can change. It is far easier to change appointments with a few weeks notice, but it doesn t serve you or our patients at all if we cannot get patients to commit to their appointments with only a few days notice. I am sure you can all appreciate the importance of physician scheduling to our business. Let s make Cannabinoid Medical Clinics the gold standard for patient care! 3
A message from President and CEO, John Philpott New Partnership with Rapid Interactive Disability Management Group Finalists for Canadian Cannabis Awards Help us become the number one clinic by voting for us via the link in the article! Welcome to our first Internal Newsletter. As Dr. Danial Schecter indicated, there are many exciting things happening that we would like to share. Danial and I have been working closely to address overall performance of our clinics with the ultimate goal of improving patient care and this is how: Earlier this month, Canabo Medical Corp released a Letter of Intent to go public in a Reverse Takeover Transaction with Four River Venture Ltd., and we are in the process of closing on a $3.5 million private placement offering prior to our public offering. In addition to this, we have a new partnership with RIDM "Rapid Interactive Disability Management Group" with a five-year exclusive to manage all their Medical Marijuana assessments across Canada. This summer has been very successful in increasing referrals and patient visits. With your assistance, we managed a strong showing during the summer months and reached our best number of patient visits per month yet, at a time when every health sector is down. Thank you for your commitment to our goals! Last week, we broke all records and received 400 new referrals across Canada. Edmonton is the new leader of this charge. However, this means we have to catch up our patients seen to our referral numbers. We now have competitors, so it is essential that we all find a way to increase patient flow without compromising patient care. To assist in this objective, we are reviewing the Initial Questionnaire for improvements both for research and patient flow. We have also upgraded our Followup Questionnaire to help reduce intake roll, populate our physician notes and speed up the patient encounter. Our number one complaint is patient encounter time. We must change this from 90 minutes to a 30-minute visit. To many this may seem unrealistic, but we have many physicians within CMC who see three to four new patients and three to four rechecks an hour. Their consult notes are top notch. We recognize that every physician has their own pace and it is our goal to help maximize your pace. We will never dictate your pace of work. We have also made a number of new hires, leading with our new VP of Operations, Ms. Charo Poirier, who joins us from Vital Air. She has many years experience in opening and optimizing new clinics across Canada and we look forward to her assistance. We are opening many new clinics across Canada in the coming months. Presently: Calgary, Edmonton, Barrie, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Burlington, Halifax, and St. John's. Coming soon: Moncton, Saint John, Etobicoke, Kingston, West Hamilton, London, St. Catharines, Thunder Bay, Regina, and Winnipeg. Lastly, I would like to draw your attention to the Canadian Cannabis Awards sponsored by Lift Cannabis. We have been finalists in the category of "medical clinic" for the past two years, and this year we are looking to be number one. Please encourage your colleagues, patients, friends and family to vote for us. You can get more information here: abisawards/. 4
Featured Physician: Dr. Taylor Lougheed Our first featured physician is Dr. Taylor Lougheed. In addition to working in our Ottawa Clinic, Taylor works in a family practice, emergency and in sports medicine. Dr. Lougheed comes from a big family, being the fifth child of six, and loves to play sports and be outdoors in his spare time. He has a family cottage where he goes for vacation time to relax when he s not working and enjoys that time very much. Lastly, a big congratulations because Taylor is engaged to be married next June. Cannabinoid Medical Clinic wishes you all the best! Thank you for your hard work.
