It s hard to believe it s September! Time for clubs to reorganize. Please remember to invite our family and friends to join Extension Homemakers. Let s all work together to have a wonderful year filled with lots of learning, fun and positive experiences! Thanks for all that you do and for your support of the Extension Homemakers programs. The last day for the Farmers Market will be October 31st. Stop by for your fresh & local produce. The First Southern Veterans Park is located off Highway 150 East. The market is open at 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or until sellout. Local Farmers are there Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

2 Council Meeting Date: Thursday, Sept. 27th Time: 1 p.m. Place: Lincoln County Extension Office COUNTRY HAM/DOMICIAN REPUBLIC SERVICE PROJECT The County Association will donated the proceeds ($132) to the Lincoln County 4-H Dominican Republic Service Project. Congrats to Sandy Lane of Stanford Congrats to our New County Officers: President Brenda Hammons Vice-President Betty McReaken Secretary Esther Bailey Treasurer Kathy Diaz PIECEFUL HEARTS CLUB: Our group met on August 20 and got the first look at our completed Opportunity Quilt. This quilt is called Trusty Triangles and is a Nancy Zieman pattern. It was a group effort and was quilted by Connie Pigman. For a $1.00 donation you will get one opportunity to win. Please contact any of our group members or leave a comment on our Pieceful Hearts Quilt Group Facebook page. Our next meeting will be Monday, September 17. We will be finishing our bonus quilt that we started making from fabrics left from the Opportunity Quilt. We will also be deciding what we want to do with it. Group members, please contact Linda ASAP with your top 3 Missouri Star tutorial choices. You should have received this request in an . If you have questions please call her or Gail. Hope to see you there! HAPPY HEART HOMEMAKERS Will meet (NEW DATE) third Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, September 18 th from 10:00-11:00 for the introduction meeting. Anyone is welcome to come to this meeting. Bring a dish to share (can be anything). We will eat from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. At 1:00pm we will have craft time. Any homemaker of any club is welcome to join us at this time if you would like. We will do crafts each month. The craft for September is the Fabric Star (a photo is included and a supply list). 3 Club Information: PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB Will meet 2nd Thursday each month at 10:00am (unless otherwise state in newsletter). Dues $10.00 per year + your $7.50 for County membership. Each month will be a field trip to a different location. The first four months are listed below. We will take an Extension van each month & gas will be paid by all who go. You will be expected to pay for your own meal or items you might purchase. The bottom two months could switch places depending on when they have the tea. A. Sept: Shakertown -Brunch-hiking to waterfall. Dress appropriately for hike in weeds. B. Oct: Cumberland Falls- Lunch Dupont Lodge-Hiking at the two falls C. Nov: White Hall- Tea- Boonesboro D. Dec: Opryland Hotel- lunch photo opts. (* pending approval) We hope that each participant will do a photo board of the years photos to display at the County Annual Meeting. Please call Brenda if you intend to go so we can arrange the van OPI Members will meet the third Wednesday of each month. You must bring your own supplies. A list will be given out at our first meeting. You are also welcome to stay and watch what we do. Dues: $10.00 plus Story Telling We will begin this new class at 2:00 pm on the fourth Thursday after the council meeting. Come join us for some fun and learning. You do need to bring a notebook. Dues: $5.00 plus you must be a paid homemaker; $7.50 County Dues County dues $7.50 Page 3 Pen and Ink We will meet the 2 nd Saturday each month unless stated in the newsletter. You will need to have your own supplies. A list will be given at the first meeting. We do take a lunch break in the middle of the day. You can go out or brown bag You may stay and watch if you like. Dues: $10.00 plus your $7.50 for your county dues.

4 Dues: It is once again time to pay our membership dues for the program year. Please do so at your next club meeting. County dues are $7.50. Some clubs have additional club dues. County-atlarge or members should send their dues in to Kathy 3060 Ky Highway 198 Hustonville, KY as soon as possible to avoid an interruption in mailings and newsletter. Please remember that we have gift certificates that you can purchase for others. Please ask about this if you are interested. Thanks so much. September is: NATIONAL SEWING MONTH - Please be sure and sew something cool today and tomorrow and.. The Lincoln County Extension Office will be closed Monday, September 3, 2018 for Labor Day!!! Hooray for Grandparents Day As a parent, it is difficult to find the time and resources to meet the ever growing needs of my children. However, I may have overlooked one of the best resources of all grandparents. Research indicates grandparents offer invaluable resources to grandchildren including emotional support such as listening or offering advice. They also help with more physical support, such as companionship and help with chores and transportation. Some may even offer financial support. Another study revealed that not only do grandchildren benefit from support from grandparents, but grandparents who support their grandchildren have less depressive symptoms than grandparents who were not involved in their grandchildren s lives. These research findings highlight the value of grandparentgrandchild relationships, revealing the healthy importance of building and maintaining these vital relationships. In addition to the benefits both grandparents and grandchildren receive from spending time together, parents also receive a much needed break while feeling confident that their children are in good hands. So, with September 9th being Grandparent Day, let s not forget to show them how much we love them by spending time together. After all, everyone benefits!
