This powerful program has been tailored to the female leader of today, guiding her on a journey through self-discovery and arming her with the tools to achieve her full leadership potential. Here s what you ll experience in CREW s Authentic Leadership Program. NETWORKING: Network with some of Charlotte s powerful female leaders and foster deep relationships with fellow classmates, adding to your own personal board of directors a group of trusted peers you ll continue to access and rely on throughout your leadership journey. COURAGE: This program equips you with the tools and confidence to combat imposter syndrome, which can undermine and distract you from achieving your true leadership potential. DISCOVER YOUR STRENGTHS: Based on Gallup s StrengthsFinder assessment, this program teaches you how to understand and use your strengths to develop your authentic leadership style. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Learn about how your strengths can build a better community through involvement rooted in personal engagement. 3 CREW Charlotte s 2017 Authentic Leadership Class HERE S WHAT PAST PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS HAVE SAID ABOUT CREW S LEADERSHIP PROGRAM. Whenever I doubt my ability to lead, I will remind myself that I am leading in my own style, and that leading with my authentic self is the way that I am meant to lead. When you assemble a group of affirming people in the same room that want to lift you up and not trample over you on the way to the top, and you are open to change and/or possibility, then transformation can occur! This course, designed for women, allows women to give themselves permission to put themselves first! I loved it every minute of it. I love that I met such an awesome group of women, and that we will never lose touch. I loved learning so much more about myself. I feel enriched by many of the women in this program. I look forward to being able to call on them both professionally and personally. This was one of the program s top benefits for me. I don t even know that I can put into words the value of the personal connections I made throughout the program. Simply being in a room with these women, and learning that we are all strong yet vulnerable, confident yet questioning ourselves, established yet uncertain, and ready to open ourselves up to continued growth made me feel less alone in the world. There were so many things I learned about my strengths that have stayed with me. I truly think about my strengths every day. One of the most valuable things I took away was the ability to identify when my strengths were in or out of balance. There are so many things that I viewed as negative personality traits in myself that I felt were going to stand in my way. Reframing these characteristics as strengths had never occurred to me, and I felt like it fundamentally changed the way I see myself.

4 TUITION The tuition is $2,000 and covers all costs for materials, meals, parking, and the overnight retreat. CREW Charlotte members tuition is $1,600 (CREW Charlotte will cover the $400 difference). Tuition for participants who work for a non-profit organization or for the government is $1,500 (a 25% discount). CLASS SIZE The class is capped at 30 participants. Up to 15 spaces are reserved for CREW Charlotte members. ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION AND TUITION DEPOSITS Participants will be notified by September 17, 2018, if they have been accepted into the class, and a $500 tuition deposit will be due by October 15, The balance of the tuition will be due in full by December 15, CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTANCE Applications will be evaluated on demonstrated or potential leadership, community involvement, and individual achievement in the candidate s professional, community, and organizational background. PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY The program is open to women in the Charlotte region and to members of any CREW Chapter in North Carolina or South Carolina. Applicants do not have to be CREW members to participate. We hope to cultivate a diverse group of female professionals across various industries. Men are not eligible for this program. ATTENDANCE POLICY Since the dates have been published in advance and there are limited spaces available, we have developed a strict attendance policy. All participants must attend the opening retreat in January and the closing retreat in May and may miss no more than one of the other sessions. Inability to attend the opening retreat will require withdrawal from the class with a tuition refund only if the spot is able to be filled. Inability to attend the May retreat will cause the participant to be ineligible for graduation with no tuition refund. If more than one of the other sessions is missed, the participant must withdraw from the program and will receive no tuition refund. LOCATION The Opening Retreat will be held at an area hotel. Remaining sessions will take place at Northeastern University, our program education partner (101 North Tryon, in downtown Charlotte). Parking is included in the program tuition. REGISTRATION DATES Registration is now open and closes on September 6, 2018.

5 SESSION DESCRIPTIONS Live Authentically Opening Retreat: Your Strengths and Your Vision Participants will learn about the ATHENA leadership model and the importance of cultivating a personal vision for their lives, while developing a deeper understanding of their own strengths-based on Gallup s StrengthsFinder TM assessment tool. This self-awareness forms the basis for cultivating an authentic leadership style while learning how your individual leadership strengths can be leveraged to help you realize your personal vision and maximize your leadership potential. Learn Constantly Growth Through Change and Inner Resiliency This session shows participants how to set meaningful goals, including strategies and tools for staying on track while continually staying open to learning and growth. We ll also discuss the importance of cultivating personal resiliency while providing strategies to help you navigate change and truly thrive. Act Courageously and Advocate Fiercely Communicating Your Message; Negotiating and Advocacy Becoming an authentic leader requires the courage to stand in your own voice and learn how to effectively communicate your message. In this session you ll learn how to develop and refine your unique communication style in a way that is authentic, clear, effective, and engaging to others. Before we can lead others, we must first learn how to lead ourselves. You ll also learn how to advocate for yourself, including hands-on training, tools, and tips for negotiating your best work-life balance. Discussions will emphasize standing up for others and for what s right, touching on sensitive themes including workplace bullying, sexual harassment, and navigating ethical dilemmas in the workplace and beyond. Foster Collaboration Diversity of Thought and Working with Teams In today s workforce, it is imperative that we learn to lead across culture, gender, and the generations, while learning how to work collaboratively. We ll hear from leaders who have effectively learned how to utilize diversity to create cohesive teams and some of the challenges and opportunities that come from working in today s global economy. You will also have an opportunity to engage in sensitivity exercises designed to help you become more a conscious leader, while learning to identify and overcome barriers that may exist in building diverse teams. Beyond culture, gender and the generations, the best teams are built by learning to recognize and optimize our individual strengths, tap into our inner creativity, and navigate disruption, while staying aligned to the larger vision. You ll learn how to maximize the creative process to build highperformance teams and organizations.

6 Building Relationships; Give Back and Celebrate Beyond Mentoring; Community Involvement and Board Development; Graduation This session will cover the power of personal and professional networking and the importance of cultivating mentors, identifying role models, and creating a legacy of leadership by mentoring and supporting others on their own leadership journey. The session will also focus on why women in the workplace matter and how to effectively build the business case for more women in leadership positions. At its core, authentic leadership is about learning to use our individual and collective influence to serve others and create ripples of positive change. One of the ways in which we create that positive change is by giving back to our communities. In this session, participants will learn about initiatives in Charlotte helping to build a better community for all and hear from experts who will share their experience in what it takes to build an effective board and create a healthy culture that promotes sustainable change. During this session s graduation portion, participants will have an opportunity to share what they have learned throughout the program, how they have grown in their own self-awareness and understanding of leadership, and how they have chosen to maximize their own authentic leadership style. We ll wrap up with a festive celebration and awards program.
