RESEARCH SUPPORT Research Support under Review R01, NIDA Claborn (PI) Submitted 03/2016 Implementing Patient Navigators in Substance Use Clinics to Facilitate Linkage and Retention to Dual HIV/PrEP and Addiction Services This Type 2 Hybrid Effectiveness-Implementation Trial will use mixed methods to evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of a patient navigator-based intervention within outpatient substance use treatment facilities on care continuum outcomes including HIV testing, linkage to dual care services, retention in dual care services, and patient clinic outcomes. A 6- site, stepped wedge design that randomly assigns the order in which clinics receive the intervention will be used. Role: Principal Investigator 9
10 Ongoing Research Support Updated 07/2016 R34, NIDA Claborn (PI) 07/15/16-06/30/2019 Mobile Application to Improve Care Coordination between HIV clinics and Substance Use Treatment Facilities ($725,508) The goal of this project is to develop and test a mobile application and training intervention designed to improve care coordination and referral systems between HIV clinical services and substance abuse treatment centers. After developing and piloting the program with HIV and substance use providers, we will examine initial implementation and organizational-level outcomes. Role: Principal Investigator K23, NIDA Claborn (PI) 07/15/15-06/30/20 Adherence Intervention for HIV-infected Drug Users ($890,193) The goal of this career development award is to tailor an antiretroviral adherence intervention for HIVinfected illicit drug users. This study will progress through three phases: (1) examine content preferences among HIV drug users through focus groups; (2) develop the intervention manual and pilot test the intervention among HIV drug users; (3) conduct a Type 2 hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial among 60 HIV-infected illicit drug users. Role: Principal Investigator R34, NIMH Ramsey (PI) 07/01/15-06/30/18 Mobile Application to Improve HIV Medication Adherence The goal of this project is to modify and refine a mobile health antiretroviral adherence application. After the refinement phase, the intervention will be rigorously tested via 2-armed randomized controlled trial. Role: Co-Investigator NIH Loan Repayment Grant, NIDA Claborn (PI) 07/01/14-06/30/16 Computer-based Intervention Promoting Adherence among HIV+ Substance Users The goal of this project is to (a) examine barriers to technology-based interventions and intervention content among HIV-infected substance users; (b) adapt a computer-based adherence intervention to the unique needs of substance users, and (c) test the initial efficacy and acceptability of the intervention. Role: Principal Investigator Oklahoma Health Research Award Claborn/Leffingwell (Co-PIs) 07/01/13-07/01/16 Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology Randomized Clinical Trial Testing the Efficacy of a Computer-based HIV Adherence Promotion Intervention ($134,865) This is a competitive state-wide grant to fund health research. The goal of this project is to (a) evaluate adherence barriers and computer literacy among HIV+ patients, (b) modify and refine a computerbased HIV adherence promotion intervention, and (c) evaluate the efficacy and acceptability of the intervention via a small randomized controlled trial. Role: Co-Principal Investigator Completed Research Support T32 AA Monti (PI) 09/01/13 08/31/15 Alcohol Intervention/Treatment Outcome Research Training 10

Role: Postdoctoral Fellow (Mentor: Susan Ramsey, PhD) Research Excellence Award Claborn (PI) 05/01/14-07/31/15 Brown University Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies Enhancing Adherence Interventions among HIV-infected Substance Users ($9,868) The primary goal of this two-phase, mixed-methods project is to develop a syndemic model of HIV disease and drug abuse to explain antiretroviral nonadherence. The two study phases will: (a) assess HIV healthcare providers perspectives regarding methods of intervening to improve adherence and reduce risk behaviors among illicit drug users living with HIV through qualitative methods, and (b) examine potential mechanisms underlying medication nonadherence among HIV-infected illicit drug users. Role: Principal Investigator Graduate College Research Fellowship Claborn (PI) 06/ /2010 Oklahoma State University Clinic Trial Examining the Feasibility and Acceptability of a Computer-based Adherence Promotion Intervention among HIV-positive patients.
