HI-PRO SOYA RAPEMEAL Soya beans once crushed produce three main products; oil, meal and hulls. The meal is then heated and flaked. The oil is extracted and the remainder toasted (Hi-pro Soya does not have the hulls reblended). High in protein, with a good amino acid profile High in energy High in phosphorous (50%) and a good source of Vitamins B & D Good palatability Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for cattle / sheep 30 / 35% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for calves / lambs / piglets 20% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for pigs 30% Rapeseed Ext (meal) is a by-product of the production of Rapeseed Oil. The oil is expelled from the seed by pressing, before a solvent extraction is then used to further lower the oil level of the meal. High in protein Good energy source Good availability all year round Consistent analysis Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for cattle / sheep 20 / 25% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for calves / lambs 5% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for adult pigs 2.5% 3
WHEAT DISTILLERS MAIZE DISTILLERS Wheat Distillers (or Distillers Dark Grains) is a by-product of wheat after alcohol distillation and / or bio ethanol production. Following the fermentation of wheat and the distillation of the ethanol, they are obtained from drying the solid residues of fermented grain and adding evaporated syrups. High energy and protein Rich in digestible fibre and low in starch Good source of bypass protein Lower levels of fermentable carbohydrate which results in a lower acid load Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) cattle / sheep - 40% / 10% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) calves / lambs -10% / 5% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) adult pigs 5% Maize Distillers is a by-product from the processing of Maize grain to produce industrial alcohol, normally in the form of ethanol which is used as a fossil fuel replacer. High energy and protein Complements high starch cereals and other low protein products High oil content Available all year Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) cattle / sheep 20% / 10% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) lambs 2.5% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) adult pigs / weaner / grower 5% / 2.5% / 2.5% 4
VAN DAMME MAIZE GERM EXT NUTS MAIZE GLUTEN Maize is processed to remove the oil rich germ, the oil is then extracted for human consumption, leaving the low oil Van Damme Maize Germ Extraction. High energy Good high quality protein source Good palatability with a good source of NDF Good levels of fermentable carbohydrates fermentable carbohydrates + bypass starch = high glucogenic energy Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for dairy 20% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for beef / youngstock 25% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for sheep 30% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for growers / adult pigs 15% Maize Gluten is a by-product of the moist maize milling to produce starch and sugar syrups. It comprises of maize bran and fibres, corn steep liquor, oils and proteins. Good energy source Good protein level Good starch source Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for cattle / sheep 10% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) calves / lambs 5% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) adult pigs / weaner / grower 5% / 2.5% / 2.5% 5
GROUND MAIZE WHEAT Ground Maize is an energy rich, highly digestible and palatable feed providing an excellent source of slowly fermentable starch, suitable for all classes of livestock. High in starch High content of slow fermentable starch High energy Good palatability Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) cattle / sheep 35% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) calves / lambs 35% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) adult pigs / weaner / grower 35% / 40% / 40% Wheat is a cereal grain produced worldwide. It is well recognised as an excellent energy source for ruminants and can be crushed, rolled or coarsely ground. Very high in energy and starch Very low in fibre and average protein Good palatability Can help increase milk protein yields Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for cattle / sheep 40% / 35% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for calves / lambs 25% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for pigs 50% 6
BARLEY OATS Barley is a cereal grain produced worldwide. It is well recognised as an excellent energy source for ruminants and can be crushed or rolled High in energy and starch Low in fibre and protein Good palatability Highly fermentable which encourages milk protein and fast growth Upper inclusion rate (DM) for cattle / sheep / calves 50% Upper inclusion rate (DM) for lambs 25% as levels higher than this produce soft fat in the carcass Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for pigs 25 / 30% Oats are a cereal grain produced wildly in cooler more temperate climates. Primarily grown for the human cereal market but still a valuable energy source for farm livestock. High in fibre Very palatable Good energy source Can produce good quality carcass fat Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for dairy / sheep 25% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for beef cattle 35% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for calves / lambs 10% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for adult pigs / weaner / grower 25% / 15% / 15% 7
MAIZE MEAL MALT RESIDUAL PELLETS Maize Meal is a combination of maize germ and bran and is produced by combining the fibrous bran and oily germ which are separated from the endosperm of the maize during the process of dry milling. High energy Very palatable and digestible Good source of starch Good level of bypass starch Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for cattle / sheep - 25% / 20% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for calves / lambs 20% / 15% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for pigs 25% Malt Residual Pellets are made from the chitted barley roots (malt culms) and malt screenings from the malting process. High fibre content which may restrict usage in ruminant diets Good level of protein Average palatability Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) dairy / beef 20 / 25% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) sheep 25% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) calves 10% 8
WHEAT FEED SUGAR BEET Wheat Feed is a by-product of flour milling. It comprises of wheat bran, endosperm and other starch screenings. It is generally pelleted with the addition of a little water. High fibre and moderate protein Relatively low energy therefore not suitable for high inclusion in beef finishing diets Moderate palatability Highly digestible Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for cattle / sheep 30 / 45% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for lambs / calves 20% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for pigs 25% Sugar beet nuts are a by-product of the manufacture of sugar. The sugar beet root is grown to produce sugar; it is crushed and extracted to remove the sugars. Sugar beet pulp contains the remaining fibre, processing residues and beet molasses. High in rumen fermentable energy High in digestible fibre Good rumen conditioner which aids digestion of other feeds Very good palatability Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for dairy / beef / sheep - 30% / 40% / 50% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for calves / lambs 20% Upper Inclusion Rate (DM) for pigs 10 / 15% 9
