1 RECOMMENDATIONS ON USE OF ECONASE XT P AND QUANTUM BLUE This brochure provides information on the use of ECONASE XT P (xylanase) and QUANTUM BLUE (phytase) in poultry feeds, as recommended by ABVista Feed Ingredients USE OF ECONASE XT P Econase XT P contains a minimum guaranteed level of 3,370,000 BXU/g xylanase. Econase XT P xylanase withstands pelleting even at 95C Inclusion level of Econase XT P for broilers is 5 grams/t. Use of Econase XT P needs to be considered in terms of which grains are used in broiler and layer diets. The major grains used in broiler and layer diets in Australia are wheat and sorghum. There are 2 ways to use Econase XT P in wheat and sorghum based diets, as indicated below: 1. A matrix with energy and amino acids. This includes ME and digestible amino acids. See table below. A matrix is placed on the ingredient Econase XT P, and when used at the recommended level of 5 grams/t feed, will provide energy and digestible amino acids to the total diet. Table 1. Nutrient matrices to apply to Econase XT P Nutrient Wheat diets Sorghum diets Wheat/sorghum diets ME, Kcal/kg ME, Mj/kg Protein, % Digestible,% 30,000, ,000 70,000 20,000,000 84,000 70,000 25,000, ,000 70,000

Contact RCI for information on this. As an example if the premix containing the 5 grams Econase XT P had an inclusion of 2.5 kg/t feed, then all the matrix values in Table 1 would be divided by 500 (2500/5). So ME for wheat diets would be 30,000,000/500= 60,000, and digestible lysine would be 2800/5=5.6, and so on. 2. Put the nutrient matrix onto the wheat and sorghum instead of the enzyme. This method has been tested numerous times and used commercially with good success. What it means is that the nutrients in the wheat (and sorghum) are changed. This is about 6% on energy and 6-8% on digestible amino acids for wheat. In Table 2, the new nutrient levels are shown for an 11, 12 and a 13% protein wheat. You can see the specs if using wheat without Econase XT P, and when using with Econase XT P. So you set up new ingredients in your formulation program, and name them for example wheat 11 (Econase). Using the new specs will clearly reduce feed cost, due to the higher levels of energy and digestible amino acids in the modified wheats. Table 2. Nutrient Composition of different wheats when used without and with Econase XT P Nutrient Wheat Wheat 11 Wheat 12 Wheat 12 Wheat 11 (Econase (Econase 13 XT P) XT P) Wheat 13 (Econase XT P)

P, % Sodium, % Dry Matter, % Choline, ppm Note when using wheat in mash diets e.g. layer, an available P of 0.14% can be used, due to the natural phytase in un-pelleted wheat.

4 When using sorghum in broiler diets, a similar approach is recommended as with wheat. In Table 3, the nutrient specs are provided for a 9% and a 10% protein sorghum when used without and with Econase XT P. So new ingredients should be set up in the formulation program, with names such as Sorghum 9 (Econase). For broiler diets using a combination of wheat and sorghum, use the Econase XT P modified wheat and sorghum. For all sorghum diets, use Econase XT P modified sorghum. Econase XT P also allows the safe use of barley in broiler and layer diets. This is due to the xylanase and a side activity of beta-glucanase in the product. Econase XT P allows the use of up to 20% barley in broiler diets. Then using barley in broiler diets with Econase XT P, an ME of 3050 Kcal/kg ( MJ/kg) can be assigned to the barley. Table 3. 5 Fat, % Crude Fibre, % Ash, % Calcium, % Total P, % Avail. P, % Sodium, % Dry Matter, % Choline, ppm ECONASE XT P FOR LAYERS. Inclusion rate for layers is 4 grams/t. Again the same use of grains as discussed for broilers applies for layers. That is for wheat, use Econase XT P modified wheat nutrient specs as in Table 1 and for sorghum, use Econase XT P modified sorghum nutrient specs as in Table 2. For a combination of wheat and sorghum, use the Econase XT P modified wheat and sorghum specs. For all sorghum diets, use Econase XT P modified sorghum specs. USE OF QUANTUM BLUE The official ABVista document titled Formulating with Quantum Blue- Poultry provides a range of inclusions with associated matrices, specifically for 500, 750 and 1000 FTU for broilers. From 4 years of experience and research worldwide, we recommend the use of 500 FTU, and the full matrix associated with this, shown in Table 4.

6 Used in this way, Quantum Blue will reduce feed costs by a considerable amount and provide good broiler performance. Superdosing with Quantum Blue in broilers A user may wish to go further and use Quantum Blue in superdosing mode, in a unique way developed and researched only by ABVista. To do this, formulate broiler diets with 500 FTU (100 grams/t) Quantum Blue and with the matrix in Table 4 assigned to the Quantum Blue. This then gives 100 grams/t. Then add another 1000 FTU (200 grams/t) without a matrix, to give a total inclusion of 300 grams/t. The extra Quantum Blue will degrade 80-90% of the antinutritional phytate in the feed. Research from a summary of 5 large scale trials (one in Thailand, three in USA and one in Brazil) suggests the extra 200 grams Quantum Blue /t will improve FCR by 3-4 points over the use of 500 FTU alone. See article Superdosing phytase in broilers: providing more than just phosphorus in poultry. Mike Bedford and Carrie Walk. Asian Feed magazine. July/August 2013, pp Table 4. QUANTUM BLUE Matrix for 500 FTU (100 grams/t)- broilers Nutrient Value, % ME, Kcal/kg 520,000 ME, MJ/kg 2,170 Calcium 1,650 Avail P 1,500 Sodium 350 Digestible, % M+C

7 Important. The matrix values are to use if Quantum Blue is being added as a separate ingredient at 100 grams/t. If it is being included in a premix, then these matrix values will not apply. These will depend on the inclusion level of the premix. Contact RCI to get the correct matrix values for the premix. Quantum Blue for layers/breeders. The ABVista document Formulating with Quantum Blue- Layers/Breeders provides specific information on how to use Quantum Blue for layers. We recommend the use of 300 FTU (60 g/t), and use the full matrix for 300 FTU, as shown in Table 5. Table 5. QUANTUM BLUE Matrix for 300 FTU (60 grams/t)- layers/breeders Nutrient Value, % ME, Kcal/kg 866,670 ME, MJ/kg 3,615 Calcium 2,750 Avail P 2,500 Sodium 583 Digestible, % M+C Important. The matrix values are to use if Quantum Blue is being added as a separate

8 ingredient at 60 grams/t. If it is being included in a premix, then these matrix values will not apply. These will depend on the inclusion level of the premix. Contact RCI to get the correct matrix values for the premix. Superdosing with Quantum Blue in layers A user may wish to go further and use Quantum Blue in superdosing mode, in a unique way developed and researched only by ABVista. To do this, formulate layer diets with 300 FTU (60 grams/t) Quantum Blue and with the matrix in Table 5 assigned to the Quantum Blue. This then gives 60 grams/t. Then add another 300 FTU (60 grams/t) without a matrix, to give a total inclusion of 120 grams/t. Again, the extra Quantum Blue is degrading 80-90% of the antinutritional phytate in the feed. Research has indicated the extra Quantum Blue will increase egg production.
