2 DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Regent 50 SC is a broad spectrum insecticide recommended for use to control thrips in carnations. Regent 50 SC is effective at low doses with an excellent residual activity (this part is detailed in the following paragraph). Regent acts against all stages of target pests and demonstrates efficacy when used preventatively. MODE OF ACTION: Regent 50 SC acts by contact and ingestion. Fipronil binds to amino acids inside the ion channel of the insect nervous system and blocks the g-amino butyric acid- (GABA) regulated chloride channel in neurons. MIXING INSTRUCTIONS: Fill the spray tank halfway with water. Start agitator mechanism and slowly add the required amount of Regent 50 SC. Add water to the final volume required with continuous agitation. RATE OF APPLICATION/SPRAY INTERVAL: Crop Target Pest Rate (ml/ha) Remarks Carnation Thrips ml to 100 l water/ha Use foliar spray; Rotate insecticides with different modes of action. Use the higher dose rate in case of heavy infestation. RE-ENTRY INTERVAL: 24 hours, unless wearing protective clothing. IPM: Not IPM compatible (not safe to beneficials). Regent 50 SC, like some other insecticides on the market, is highly toxic to honeybees. To minimize risk to honeybees, Regent 50 SC spray applications should not be made when bees are actively foraging. Foliar applications to plants during or prior to flowering may also pose a risk to honeybees. Foliar applications should only be made after careful assessment of the potential risk to honeybees, taking into account factors such as the attractiveness of the crop and other plants in and around the treated area, the application rate, the timing of application and the proximity of honeybee populations. RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT: Alternate insecticides with different mode of action. Never treat two successive generations by the same mode of action. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: No special measures necessary if stored and handled correctly. Do not breathe vapour/spray. Use personal protective clothing. Wear protective gloves. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Do not discharge into drains/surface. LEAK AND SPILLS: Use personal protective clothing. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe vapour/spray. Do not discharge into the subsoil/soil. Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. For small amounts: Pick up with suitable absorbent material (e.g. sand, sawdust, general-purposebinder, kieselguhr). For large amounts: Dike spillage. Pump off product.collect waste in suitable containers, which can be labeled and sealed. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations. STORAGE: Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Keep out of reach of children. Store in original container tightly closed,in a safe place. Keep away from heat. Protect from direct sunlight. Protect from temperatures above: 40 C. Changes in the properties of the product may occur if substance/product is stored above indicated temperature for extended periods of time. DISPOSAL: Must be sent to a suitable incineration plant, observing local regulations. Contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible and disposed of the same manner as the substance/product. ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS: Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. Highly toxic to bees FIRST AID MEASURES: General advice: Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Show container, label and/or safety data sheet to physician. If Inhaled: Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air and seek medical attention. Eye contact: Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water, with eyelids open. Consult an eye specialist. Skin contact: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If irritation develops, seek medical attention. Ingestion: Rinse mouse immediately and then drink plenty of water ( ml), seek medical attention. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION: Signs and Symptoms of Poisoning: Harmful if swallowed. May cause sensitization by skin contact. Danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure if swallowed.

3 Emergency Antidote: No specific antidote. Treat symptomatically. Note to Physician: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.
