Ortho cham zug Centre of excellence for the musculoskeletal system Your mobility, independence and quality of life are our aim. Because movement means life. Hirslanden A mediclinic international company
Dr Roman Flückiger Dr Sebastian Gathmann Dr Martin Röthlisberger 2
WELCOME Dear Patients Is your ability to move restricted by pain? Are your problems causing your mobility and independence to suffer? Do you feel that your quality of life is affected as a result? When it comes to musculoskeletal problems, an exact diagnosis from an experienced doctor is the basis for receiving the best possible therapy and treatment. As a highly specialised centre, we diagnose and treat musculoskeletal diseases and injuries always aiming to restore our patients mobility, independence and quality of life. We are a team of specialists who have each been focusing on a specific area of the musculoskeletal system for many years: Shoulder and elbow Hip and knee Foot and ankle 3
ORTHOPAEDICS, TRAUMA SURGERY, TREATMENT OF SPORTS INJURIES TRAUMA SURGERY Whether you have been suffering with your problems for a long time or you have an acute condition, an exact diagnosis from a specialist is very important for the healing process. In our practice, we treat both diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system: ORTHOPAEDICS Wear, overloading or misalignment are the causes of many musculoskeletal problems. With an exact diagnosis, the right treatment can get underway. Infiltrations for pain relief Training therapy Treatment of arthrosis Replacement of joints (prostheses) Replacement of prostheses Revision surgery for operations previously carried out When an accident happens, a prompt diagnosis and immediate start to treatment are key to the healing process. Simple and complex fractures Tendon, muscle, ligament and soft tissue injuries Dislocated joints Sports injuries SPORTS INJURIES If musculoskeletal problems occur during sport, or if an athlete suffers an injury, treatment by a doctor specialising in the relevant area of expertise can do a great deal to ensure a swift healing process. Pain relief Training therapy Surgical procedures 4
SECOND OPINION Have you had an operation recommended? Are you unsure if this is the right treatment for you? Would you like a second opinion about a planned therapy? Or are you dissatisfied with an operation you have had? We offer the option of another professional view. 5
OUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE HIGHLY SPECIALISED HIGHLY SPECIALISED PERSONAL CONTACT Our centre s areas of expertise are the major joints of the musculoskeletal system. From the first contact to the end of your treatment, you will be looked after by the same specialist. Our specialists are recognised, qualified medical professionals with many years of in-depth experience in their respective areas of expertise: At your first appointment, we take the time to get to know you and analyse your problems without rushing. After the diagnosis, we work with you to plan the right treatment programme. Shoulder Elbow Hip Knee Foot Ankle Hip Foot 6
RANGE OF TREATMENT FOR PAIN-FREE MOVEMENT SHOULDER ELBOW Surgery on the joint at the top of the shoulder (AC joint) and for impingement Reconstruction of the muscle-tendon cuff (rotator cuff) Muscle replacement for irreparable injuries of the rotator cuff Stabilisation after dislocation of the shoulder (luxation) Shoulder joint replacement (prostheses) Fractures and other shoulder injuries Tennis and golfer s elbow Repair and replacement of elbow ligaments and tendons Elbow stiffness Replacement of the elbow joint (prostheses) Fractures and other elbow injuries Shoulder Elbow Knee Ankle 7

OUR PHILOSOPHY EXACT DIAGNOSIS, PERSONALISED THERAPY THERAPY BEFORE SURGERY An operation is not always necessary for treatment. Physiotherapy, training therapy or infiltrations are often enough to achieve an improvement. If surgery is unavoidable, various surgical techniques are available. Many operations can now be performed using arthroscopy, which is also known as keyhole surgery. PARTNER FOR SURGERY All operations are carried out at our partner for surgery, Hirslanden AndreasKlinik Cham Zug, on an outpatient or inpatient basis depending on their complexity. FOR ALL CLASSES OF HEALTH INSURANCE COVER Ortho Cham Zug as well as the Hirslanden AndreasKlinik accept patients with all classes of health insurance cover round the clock in emergencies. 9
