6 GECO book series coordinated by P. Kehr The aim of the GECO book series, to which this book belongs, is to perpetuate the work of GECO Groupe d études pour la Chirurgie osseuse (Group for the Study of Bone surgery) and to celebrate the thirty years of existence of the group. Born in 1976, GECO was at the beginning the meeting place of a group of young surgeons in orthopedics and traumatology who brought together their patient files in order to carry out prospective studies and improve their knowledge. Very soon the group, through an annual meeting that was organized with the support of Fournitures Hospitaliers (FH Orthopedics), gathered in January of each year a growing number of orthopedic surgeons from Europe - over 300 at present - at its round tables and its oral presentations, mostly from but also from all over the world. GECO today is a group of over 25 permanent members and six specialty groups representing the major sub-specialties of orthopedics and traumatology. With a regular publication rhythm of one to two books per year, the GECO has given himself given as a goal to provide the community of orthopedic surgery the fruit of his reflections and its work. Volume 1 : rachis, hanche, cuisse, genou. Springer-Verlag, Paris Thanks to: ( for its contribution and its financial support.
