2 8th Annual Conference on Office Orthopaedics: The Essentials of Non-Operative Musculoskeletal Care Activity Information Course Description Disorders of the musculoskeletal system are the primary reason that individuals seek medical attention in the United States; therefore a fundamental knowledge of musculoskeletal disorders is necessary for practicing primary care provider. The field of orthopaedics, however, is rapidly advancing which presents a challenge for primary care providers to keep pace with advancements. The goal of this program is to provide primary care physicians with an overview of some of the most common disorders of the musculoskeletal system they frequently encounter in their practice, and to offer them an opportunity to sharpen their skills in recommending surgical techniques or non-surgical treatment plans that will restore function and range of motion to their patients. Accreditation Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation Statement Cedars-Sinai Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Nurses The California State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved by the ACCME for category 1 credit as meeting the educational requirements for license renewal. After the didactic presentations, there will be breakout sessions for demonstrations and hands-on practice of the various techniques. Course Objectives Assess emergency orthopedic conditions and implement diagnostic and therapeutic decisions to better manage patients and improve outcomes Implement the American College of Physicians and American Pain Society guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of low back pain Perform common orthopedic techniques such as injections for the carpal tunnel; trigger finger and tennis elbow problems Policy on Disclosure It is the policy of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to ensure balance, independence, objectivity and scientific rigor in all of its educational activities. While Cedars-Sinai Medical Center endeavors to review faculty content, it remains the obligation of each physician or other healthcare practitioner to determine the applicability or relevance of the information provided from this course in his or her own practice. Acknowledgment of Commercial Support All commercial support received for this CME conference will be acknowledged at the meeting. Perform aspiration of a joint, cortisone injection of a joint and splinting and physical therapy modalities in the office Describe the role of advance imaging technology in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions
