Indicate when to pursue surgical vs. non-surgical treatment. Minimally Invasive Spine Fracture Management Mark B. Dekutoski, M.D. Discriminate between open technique and MIS in spine fracture management. Display the evidence supporting the use of open techniques. Indicate the limitations of minimally invasive surgery for fracture management.

Apply a spine trauma algorithm for surgical decision making (i.e., rod long or short, cage or no cage). Practice complication avoidance in spine trauma through case study discussion. Hands-on Demostration 1 Minimally Invasive TL Fixation Mark Dekutoski, M.D. Demonstrate the MIS for TL-fracture fixation. Illustrate possible complications related to the procedure and avoidance methods. Perform technical completion of minimally invasive TL-fracture fixation techniques.
